  • Best condensed farming area

Which areas are the best for farming condensed chunks?

I've recently just hit the infamous level of 202 and would pretty much like to go this route to GM since my bank account isn't that great. The condensed bazaar prices are a little steep for me at 80p per, but the acrylia prices are more reasonable.

I have a level 65 cleric and warrior, so I don't think the level of the mobs matter as much as drop rate. I can probably get a group together to farm the harder areas if the drop rate is much better there, but my first choice would be to obliterate the easier aliens in large chunks.

Thanks in advance for any helpful information. If it isn't cool to announce the spot directly, feel free to PM me or flame me or whatever.

umbral toilers in umbral planes are supposed to have the best drop rate of any i have heard of. i kill lesser shades and shak dratha in shadeweavers with my alts. think the other condensed substance drop rates are supposed to be much worse though. haven't farmed them myself.

If you are a 65 cleric, it's easy to farm them. In Shadeweaver thicket, there is a tunnel near the the lesser shades pop. Go in there and you have 3 "rooms" where you can find the mobs that drop. You need to have cleared the room at have them pop at night time during the game, I think like 7-9PM until 5-6AM game time. Since you can't tell time on the moon, you may want to ask someone on Norrath to tell you when the game time is.

As a cleric, load up your quickest AoE spell and go in to each room and round up the entire room and AoE. Pretty easy. Go to the next room and repeat. The third room is deep down in the cave and you have to get them to lower level to round them all up. By the time you finish the third room, the first room would have popped. I was able to do about 2-3 rounds before the day came and the other mobs started to pop. I would have to wait until night came again to do it all again. I have walked away with 3-4 stacks of the stuff per couple of hours of farming.

      Good luck.

And if you get bored during the 'daytime', such as it is on the moon, head right outside the tunnels. Shadeling silk and swirling shadows leap and frolic and practically beg you to hunt them. (or maybe that's just me...).

I am a bit confused by your post. Are you saying you need to start clearing the mobs at night? or they need to be cleared before night time so when they start popping they will be the mobs that drop what you want.

ie - what time should you be killing the mobs to get the mobs to spawn that drop the condensed shadows.

            Thanks

If the mob spawns during Norrath daytime they spawn as Gor Taku.

If they spawn during Norrath night time then they spawn as Shak Dratha.

Best tactic is to go there in the evening and start killing everything. Once they respawn it will be night time and they will spawn as Shak Dratha. Then just keep farming them until the first time they respawn as Gor Taku. Once the Gor Taku reappear have a break until the next evening.

              Wash, rinse and repeat.

Stay up in the top two caverns as the caverns to the south don't drop condensed shadows as much.

                Thanks

That makes a lot more sense. I was thinking that was what was being referred to, but just wanted to make sure.

Just spent about 3 hours in shadeweavers tunnels... got 17 chunks. Now I'm so bored and brain-dead I want to hit something.

This is a path for the seriously obsessed with nothing better to do.

                    Umbral Planes

My opinion is if you want a bit more adventure try the two caves that are leading to named mobs (firepet and Tawro or something like that). It's not necessarily better drop rate but it's challenging and a bit dangerous =) I would regularly get some friends around the 55-60 level to join me and we'd do it all the way to named. There were even a few times that some of them got a small upgrade or new weapon to play with.

                    That's just my 2cp.

                        Shadeweavers mobs

The mobs in shadeweavers are low level. My druid kills them all with 1 cast of upheavel. Just only plan on 2-3 spawns per room per night.

On an average 3 hour hunt in the shadeweaver tunnels I usually walk away with ATLEAST 10 stacks of condensed shadows.

I didn't bother timing the spawns but there were so many to kill I just ran around slaughtering the lot.... everything there was the wrong type at first. Gradually the Shak started to pop. Must have killed about 100... the drop rate was pathetic, it was 10-20 Shak before I got ANY shadows to drop.

If you can AoE, there are a lot of them to kill so yes, 10 stacks in 3h can be done. Very good rate compared to acrylia.

I usually bind in front of the first room, wander a bit / chat with friend and at 3 PM EQ time I gate and start killing. 3 PM is the best time to start.
