Being a Tunare loving druid, I went the Mithril arrow route (mostly because I was pregnant at the time and didn't have the RL stamina to farm acrylia). Spent about 40k roughly from 202 to 250. I gave most the arrows away to friends who wanted them, so I could have easily brought my loss down quite a bit by selling them. (Did enjoy friends saying how they loved the damage they did with those arrows). I averaged 2-3 skill ups per 100 combines with the arrows, and once running a streak of atleast 150 combines without a skill up. So expecting to skill up once every 20 combines is probably a bit overzealous, unfortunately. However, don't let this discourage you. All the hard work you put into fletching is worth it in the end if you find that one person who about dies because you made an elemental bow for them

I did a combination of bows/acrylia arrows up to 240 depending on plat available at the time.

240-250 i did all arrows. With maxed (305) dex, it took me ~120 combines

        for an additional 2cp...

One benefit overlooked in the acrylia path is.. you will get collateral plat when farming.

If you farm in AC, you may well MAKE 100k+ in just crap loot (junk weapons in there sell for 120-150pp each) and named drops... which makes it by far the best place to farm (in my opinion). In farming acrylia to go from 202 to 210, i made over 23K.. plus kept an acrylic bp for my alt... (and gave away over 1k of weapons to a friend that was there for a bit just hanging out).

Farming acrylia in TM, you'll be getting windstones (yeh, not that neat anymore), and other luclin gems.

Never farmed in SD, but i'm sure there's little pp drops there also that could add up to a bit.

About my assumption on the 20 combine per skill up ---

I pulled that number from the numerous posts GM fletchers have made in this forum recording their skill-up experience to 250. It's a nice round number that is in the ballpark for a lot of people. I used it just as a way to calculate the general amount of materials and plat I would need to accumulate to accomplish this project.

My personal experience with the RNG is acrimonious to say the least. I fully expect Lady Luck to treat me as shabbily as she has in the past.

          Good luck, Fletchers!

PS -- I've been farming acrylia like a mad man. The grimlings whimper when I zone in these days.

Not sure where you came up with 35pp per combine from. I'm looking at Steel Guardian Arrows ( http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_...=9627&menustr= ) and it looks like that requires 2 small bricks of steel and one large brick of steel. That comes out to be 2 * 6 + 55 = 77pp. Maybe you were giving the average cost after you sell the ones you make to vendor? Or am I looking at the wrong recipe? I ask because i'm karana and will be doing the 202 to 240 path soon. Thanks in advance.

Each combine of the steel bricks makes 2 items not one. I think it was 2 anyway. I used the steel route cause I have to farm enough stuff already. I would say they took about 30 combine per skill up.

Yup, each of the steel subcombines yield 2.

I just combined 10 stacks of componts for blessed guardian arrows. On average I had 1 skillup for every 50 combines, does this sound right? Bleh. Would you get better skill up rate doing the acrylia arrows or making bows?

My skill-up data from fletching completed yesterday. Overall, I averaged 15 combines per skill-up, but 62 when it really mattered. I think I was particularly unlucky, but at least I can laugh about it now. I think...

Overall skills from 1 to 240:
                        3799 combines
                        2138 made
                        1661 failed
                        56% success rate

                        Average 15 combines per skillup
                        skills 1 to 100: 2
                        skills 101 to 200: 9
                        skills 201 to 240: 62

                          Mithril arrows

Yesterday i priced out the Mithril route. It looks like it is about 16pp per combine. I have been averaging about 1 skill up per 40 combines. I am on the Al'kabor server and our economy is very small so people dont have money to spend on buying these arrows from me. That means that at 16pp x 40 combines x 48 skill ups to go from 202 to 250 im looking at @ 31,000pp. Ouch, i dont know anyone on my server who has that kind of money, LOL!

Another note, sell back on these arrows is nominal so dont plan on selling to vendors and getting much back.

I don't really sit down and work on Fletching. In fact, I'm trying to focus on tailoring more, but just from making arrows to shoot, I've ended up at 197, mostly doing Karana arrows. Its funny though, I get 1 - 2 skill ups just about every stack I do, but I usually only do half a stack at a time, as thats about all thats needed to fill my quiver. I am not sure if this has anything to do with my high skill rate, but the way its going, I'm going to have to pound out 3 AAs for tailoring because I'm gonna get fletching over 200 first .

I actually got REALLY bored the other day and did a large run of mithril arrows, 640 combines in fact. Problem with them is, all the supplies are sold in Felwithe, but you need to use the Kelethin forge. With a mule that was bound at one bank, and a cleric around to rez them to the other bank, it took me many, many hours and approximately 8k to 9k cash just to do the pre combines for it all, and in the end I got 8 skill ups. To top it all off, NPCs dont buy them for anything near cost, and Endless Quiver has ruined the market for arrows on the Lanys server, so now i have 1100 arrows that I can't sell, and for some odd reason I can't use, because I am a rogue. Apperently, only warriors, rangers, paladins, and shadow knights are allowed to use wood elf cultural arrows lol.

Use the Mithril Arrows for tribute. I can't remember if it was before or after the change, but I got 5 tribute per arrow when I turned them in. Beats the 1sp or so from a vendor. And you're right about selling them in the Bazaar. I started with a stack a couple months ago and sell only one at a time @ 35pp. Tried marking them down and ..... sold one at a time at 5pp.
