  • Noob question about fishing lures...

Do they replace bait? Or are they just a skill mod item to be used along with bait?

    Thanks,

I have never used a lure, but I understand they get consumed just like bait.

    From the Fishing FAQ:

Q: Do the lures or special poles with fishing bonuses on them mean I will use less bait?
A: Not really, though they will modify your base fishing skill, which gives you a better chance to catch fish, zone specials, etc. This may make you waste less bait on "junk" catches, but you're still going to lose bait/lures every time you catch a fish.

Lures are a waste of time and materials. Just get some Catch-A-Lot Bait off a fishing supply vendor or some Animated Bait from a Tinkerer (ANY Tinkerer can make it), and save the Spiderling Silks for Tailoring or sell them in the Bazaar.

I'd much rather make 60pp in the Bazaar for a stack of Spiderling Silks or use the Silk Threads to make Leather Padding than go wasting it on making 10 lures.
