  • Cobalt Scar fishing results

I needed Cobalt Cods for tailoring so I took 10 stacks (200 baits) of bait and went fishing. My fishing is maxed at 200 and had summoned fishing pole with 3% bonus. Here are the results.

    Fresh Fish 78
    Scales 51
    Dragon Bay Snapper 34
    Cobalt Cod 31
    Rusty Dagger 6
    Sandal 8

I also had 24 didn't catch anything message, pretty high for 200 fishing I thought. Just FYI.

Wow, 31 Cobalt Cod with 10 stacks of bait is pretty good. I seem to average 1 Cod per stack with 200 fishing plus a fishermans companion.
I usually go with about 50 stacks of bait and fish forever
When I get bored I kill some wyverns then come back to fishing...

Finally a subject I know enough about to post a knowledgeable reply. I fish for Cobalt Cod quite often and have found that for the 20 stacks of bait I bring...and with my fisherman's companion and Hintol's Bait from Shadow Haven, I can almost invariably expect 65 Cobalt Cod. That's an average of slightly more than three per stack.

I'm wondering if there are some hidden "fishing difficulty" factors for zones, along the lines of the hidden "zone experience bonus." I lost very minimal bait in Cabilis on my survey, most of the junk was "You caught...something" which uses no bait. Last night however, I decided to collect fish from all the wet PoP zones I could reach at 56 with no flags, and saw almost no "something" but wasted a lot of bait on named catches of junk, and both times were at skill 200 with +3% pole (actually the planar trip was also with +2% bait so actually a higher effective skill.)

Planar trip was much shorter though, might have been the cranky RNG.

PoStorms was actually fun to fish in, zone is dubious except for giants and bees and the toads around the BoT area, and the little toads in the entry area froak at you when you hail em...totally cute!

I too have fished in CS and took truckloads of bait because it is a pain to get to if you can't port, and no local supplies. Also foraged and scoured the bottom of the bay for shellfish for the salad, but after a full weekend of foraging I had about enough for about 6 baking combines, heck with that. (need full sets of like 6 or 8 rare forages/spawns)

Did my own tests on this...only have cod results, that's all I paid attention to
          ---
          200 Fishing, 3% Pole (Brell's), 0% bait (Fishing Bait)
          400 bait = 52 Cod (13%)

          Cumulative
          400 bait = 52 Cod (13%)
          ---
          200 Fishing, 3% Pole (Brell's), 2% bait (SHaven)
          400 bait = 65 Cod (16.25%)
          240 bait = 40 Cod (16.67%)

          Cumulative
          640 bait = 105 Cod (16.4%)

I have always averaged 3 Cod per stack of bait and I've done a LOT of fishing in Cobalt Scar.
