• Fish bones....

Ok, I was just trying to figure out how to get fish bones for the darts and I was a bit confused.

If I read it right the first thing I need is basically any zone specific fish, so a lot of fishing will be involved.

Then, I need a foraged root, and a high trivial fishing combine, for 1 fish bone.

    Am I reading that right?

Do you guys have a suggestion for getting a large quantity of these, or is there any way at all to get fish bones without being able to forage?

Sounds like you have a firm grip on the situation. There is also a shaman herb involved when you fillet the fish.

Remember, the dart making is a fletching skill as well. If you intend to make the darts, you will need to run the skill up on it prior.

Sorry, no, it doesn't have to be a zone specific fish.

For normal fish bones, Fresh Fish work just fine. A number of zone specific fish (but not all) work fine too, as per the list.

If you want high quality fish bones, then you must use Weary Wrass, Red Roughy, Wulf Fish or Grotto Bluegill. These make the better darts.

I agree the fishing page only lists the zone-specific fish that can be used but I make them with fresh fish all the time.

Taking a closer look there is does mention fresh fish ... just confusing because the top of the page indicates that all recipes mention zone specific fish.

Anyhow, I need to get my fishing skill up now, as I have the tool, but need to prepare fish to get the bones.

        Thanks guys.

As someone else mentioned, the darts require a fairly high fletching skill. The regular fishbone darts trivial at 162 fletching and the whittled fishbone darts trivial at 182 fletching. If you still need to train your fletching skill it isn’t hard to raise to 200, as it only requires you to stand next to a fletching vendor, but it will cost you some coins.

I'm actually using the fresh fish to fishbone dart route to skill up my enchantress's fletching a bit, then bazaar'ing the results. Meanwhile, my ranger has dibs on the HQ fish bones for the same reason. Some of the monks on our server adore the darts for pulling, and while I only sell a couple stacks here, a couple stacks there, it's enough to make it worth my time, especially when coupled with the fletching skillups.

Now that some of the Cabilis fish yield HQ fish bones, that's my favorite spot to acquire fish ... when I have a ton of pack space free. Otherwise, I stick one of my druids just inside SG and fish. :O
