Am I insane or was there a time period in between patches when one could not fish from a moving ship?

Fishing on the Ships

Fishing on ships has been an on-again, off-again thing. Ever since I started playing (October 2002), I've been able to fish on a ship -- but only if I position myself just right. One footstep in any direction and I'll get the "You must be on dry land" message.
If you stand too far back, you get the "land sharks" message; too far forward and you get the "dry land" one.
Some times, I'm able to fish from the first cast, and move back and forth freely. Other times, I'm simply not able to cast at all. Most frequently, I experiment a little to find a "sweet spot" that allows fishing, then keep using it until it stops working. (The act of casting causes you to shift ever so slightly from your spot, so occasionally you'll move out of the sweet spot.)
Personally, I think Sony should just remove the "dry land" restriction when you're on a boat.Sir KyrosKrane Sylvanblade

ya have to find the "sweet" spot. Most boats i find it near the front of the boat where the side curves toward the point. thats the usual sweet spot, sometimes you loose that spot tho, and have to look along the side for another.Lupoman Wulvenshire

I've had good success at the back of boats using the "trawling" method - IE: casting toward the stern of the ship.
The only problem I've had doing that was one time when the boat zoned, I slid off the back and had to swim the rest of the way to Butcherblock.ops:

Oh, jolly well done, Faymar! And yes, I am male (both in character and actuality).
I love a well-written yarn, and I'm flattered you included my humorously embarassing story.
Now, if only I could find a way to compose the trawling story and put it on that site...Cyrnan Bloodwood
