  • Cauldron Prawns

Can anyone tell me if Cauldron Prawns can be fished (in Dagnors Cauldron)!?

My Ranger has been in Dagnors foraging them (for the new Gnomish Cultural Tailored robes) and has been fishing to pass the time (and in the hope I could fish the prawns), his fishing is now a mighty 38.

I am thinking that I may need a fishing skill over 100 before I could catch prawns. It has been said that you need a foraging skill of over 100 to forage "special" items (not sure if that includes the prawns though)...

    Nope

As you can see here, the only zone-specific fished item in Dagnor's is Cauldron Trout (which is the easiest trout to obtain for canyar nut stuffed trout, IMO). Here you can see that Cauldron Prawn are, in fact, foraged only. I suggest you seek to obtain a Foraging Machette, which can be obtained by doing this quest if your foraging is less than 200. I haven't noticed any particular improvement with this item at 200 foraging when seeking out zone-specific forages like planar oak and dragon eggs.

On the other hand, supposedly, zone-specific forages have been added to the drop tables for all mobs in the zone (albeit a rare drop). Some say the zone specific forages drop only from specific mobs, and I'd be inclined to agree; I spent a few hours in EK the other day seeking Tea Leaves, and after slaughtering many lions of all sorts, and every hill giant I could get to, no Tea Leaves dropped. Might be worth your time to do a little gobbie smacking to see if you can get additional prawn to drop.

    Hope that helps,
