  • Fishing in PoS or PoW

    Hi!

I've never been in a Plane, and I would like to go to those 2 Planes to fish
(and maybe swim, hehe). I can't imagine skilling up my baking to 226 on HMP alone =(...

But when I told that on the channel (serverwide.eqtraders), 1 person laugh at me, for going to PoW when I never went to a Plane!

    Well...

Any suggestion (about the zones) to me so that I'll survived this new experience?

Neither zone is really an option for you right now, you'll have to make do with crawdads for Nightmare for your baking needs (hope you weren't planning to skill up on fish). Both zones require flags, you can't go to them until you've completed some particular quest or kill. You are not going to get into Plane of Water period, anyone with a reasonable chance of killing Rallos Zek and getting into PoW any time in the next year already knows the drill. Storms, on the other hand, is a possiblity for us plebians, but you're too low level at the moment. Somewhere in the level 58 to 62 range you'll be able to go through the trials in the Plane of Justice, gaining access to Storms and Valor, but no level 50 can get through those legitimately.

You have two options to get to PoS, either get an ubergroup to drag you through the flagging events, or gain 10 levels real quick.

For PoW, make that get an uberGUILD to drag you through the flagging events, or gain 15 levels real quick like.

Getting to tier 2 planes is non-trivial (unless you are level 65 with a bunch of AAs and have 4-5 similar friends to go with you), getting to Tier 3+ planes is non-trivial for high level guilds. PoW is Tier 4, IIRC, PoS is Tier 2.

          Sigh

Oh well, I see that I just have to forget that idea...

Didn't plan to skill up on fish, but to relieve boredom off HMP,
it would have been nice to do some fish recipies ...

I have been told that PoN is a nightmare  , so I will read the tread about fishing there and gather more informations. Thanks for yours answers, it help me had a better idea of the things invole  !

            Another alternative.

A nice alternative to HMP's might be to do some Jagged pine recipes. I realize they trivial at 250+, but in the low 50's you can legitimately hunt there for decent experience, and get yourself supplies for relatively easy to do recipes (not many items per combine, and virtually no subcombines unless you're doing noodle/pasta recipes). I realize most of us like to stick to the next item up the trivial list, but if you're getting burned out, this is an inexpensive and easy option until you're ready to face HMP's again.

              Re: fishing in PoW

I personally went on one fishing trip in PoW. I stood at the zone in beach and blissfully casted my line. I caught a fair number of Giant Halibut and Giant Snapper there in a fairly short period of time with a fishing skill of 178.

What u need to know about fishing in this zone is that it is extremely dangerous. There are some mobs lurking in the water near the beach, that are easily aggrod and which I believe may be KoS to all. Invis dropped on me one time and I was OWNED in about 2 seconds by these mobs. The mobs hit rapidly for 600+ with stun. My relaxing fishing trip quickly lost it's shine. Fortunately, as a necro, I was able to retrieve and rez my own corpse. Not many clerics passing by that zone yet.

in PoS you get only Storm Salmons and some Crawdads maybe. i didnt used crawdads for baking while they are waiting in bank for more. and salmons are good for storm salmon fillet (triv. 202) without stats. but both, salmons and crawds are rare. i got in one hour only 6 salmons and 2 crawds.

                  um, hey necro

You do realize that you could have just fd and fished your heart out?

Since you need to remain pretty still when you fish as to not scare off your prey, it makes sense that playing dead works just fine.

You can still purchase fish from the planes where you are not flagged, so that's also an option.

FD fishing made fishing in Nightmares a breeze, hehe. Monks can still FD while stunned BTW. But FD fishing should be preventitive, not curative, hehe. Don't wait for a mob to attack you, get by the water, FD, before a mob even knows your their, thewn fish away. Not sure if that will work in PoW, hehe, but it works wonders in PoN.

From what I've heard from people who have fished in Storms, sotrm salmon are somewhat rare, about twice as rare as crawdads are in PoN and PoV. HOWEVER...

You only need one storm salmon per baking recipe, as apposed to crawdads, where you need four. So fidhing in PoS is twice as efficent for getting fidh to bake with as PoN or PoV, hehe.

If you can't get into a trial, there's still hope, as Sony says it will remove the need for a flag to get into Storms soon.

Sotrm salmon fillet is a nice, 2 ingredient, NO SUMBCOMBINE, recipe: storm salmon + jug of sauces, not trivial til 202 baking. A lot more efficient than buttered crawdads, hehe.
