  • Fishing for Crawdads?

Where can a 51 cleric (without flags) go to fish crawdads with a reasonable degree of safety? Any suggestions?

There are no really safe spot to fish there in nightmare. What I have done is to get invis potions and sit down by the first waterfall and fish a bit downstream from there. I found that you can fish invis and none of those mobs near there will aggro you as long as you have invis on.

Docks can be very dangerous to fish whether there is a group there or not. At least from the waterfall, you can hit DA and run for the zone when invis drops.

Doesn't help your cleric, but atleast for everyone who can, it's been established that FD fishing is 100% safe.

there is actually a happy little sweet spot to fish along the lake right after the drop off the cliff, you can get there with an invis pretty easily, in between the slargs and the werewolves

i sat there for a good 2 hours ~visible~ with full spawn on both sides and wasn't bothered at all

Maeve, that spot actually has a name on the Rathe now, Honeyhole. On camp checks, people fishing there call Honeyhole or HH... heh

I've done the same thing, sat there for 2-3 hours at a time. Got trained once by someone pulling across the water, but for the most part, if you let people know you're there they'll try to steer clear.

There is also another spot right near there, I went without any forknowledge, and just wandered along the clifftop looking for a likely spot, never saw any werewolves, so this must be somewhat before them.... there's a little notch in the clifftop that kinda slopes away from the edge, so it's not a straight drop.... it's just in between 2 of the slargs that are space kinda wide.... have been sitting there for about an hour with no worries. The loc where I'm sitting is 1201 363 so the notch should be just a hair west of that.

How common are the crawdads? I see there are 2 other items that are fished in PoN. Are fresh fish also there?

Things I have fished from PoN (my safe way being running to the nearest waterline, feign death and fish while treants and blood ravens walk over me ):

                  - Fresh Fish
                  - Nightmare Cichlid
                  - Crawdad
                  - Waterleaf Scale
                  - Rusty Dagger
                  - Tattered Sandals

There may be more, but I think that is it. At least that is all I had ever gotten. As for how common crawdad are...high uncommon to rare? My last fishing trip to PoN netted me 4 crawdad over the course of almost an hour. But my fishing skill isn't maxxed either, so take that as you will.
