  • Pirahna

Just as a note: There are Pirahna in Rivervale and Freeport. I personally was out of money and food and a bit bored, so I dove in at Freeport and attacked the fish. They all died really quickly (lvl 1 mobs). During the fight with the first Pirahna, I thought I saw something else in the water with me, but when I turned around, there was nothing. While killing the last one, my health dropped suddenly and I realized I was being guard-whacked by Sir [somethingorother]. I also realized that killing those pirahna was increasing my faction with the Freeport Militia. I didn't mess with the ones in Rivervale, someone else can test those and get guard-whacked. 8)

I have not done the pirahna in FP or Rv in some time. If I remember right the FP ones are a guild quest for the paladins in NFP. but if you attacks the little fish the guards will thump you.

In RV the pirahna are a quest from the guy in the bank upstairs. and you can kill fish without being thumped.

This is if me memory is right. To many head thump in RL. :?

      Quick clarification.

In Freeport, in the moat around the Hall of Truth (Paladin Guild) in North Freeport, you can find two kinds of fish. The Marr Minnow (common, with static spawn points, and I don't think they move) are the beloved of Marr, in whose moat you're swimming. Hence, if you whack on them, the guards above you (all Paladins named Sir Something) will happily clobber you. If you manage to kill a minnow, you will get negative faction with the Knights of Truth and positive with their arch-enemies, the Freeport Militia.

You will also find the odd pirahna swimming around. These are a much rarer spawn, and they do move in the water. These wicked pirahna love to munch on the Marr Minnows, much to the annoyance of the clerics and paladins in the temple. So, if you whomp a pirahna there, you will get positive faction with the Knights of Truth for helping the fish, and negative with Freeport Militia for helping the Knights of Truth.

There are probably a couple other factions involved (Clerics of Truth, and probably one or another of the Tradefolk; I forget) that can swing depending on which fish you kill.

On a related note, there is a newbie quest in the Temple of Marr that requires you to kill 4 pirahna and put the corpses in a container for turn-in.

And that quest is awesome for evil-race players that want to increase their faction for Freeport. Do that quest 10 times or so and you're no longer KoS and can hit the bank with no worries.
