• Fishing lures - Why don't we get them back?

    The last time I went fishing in real life and used a fishing lure, I got it back out of the fishes mouth. So my question... Why not allow us to get back our lures.

    I would agree to a 5% chance that the lure is lost on a cast. Also, I would even say another 5% chance on getting a fish the lure is broken. But come on, lures are NOT worms that the fish eat.

    Fish secrete a malodorous slime unto the lures as soon as they realize they have been caught. This warns other fish and you can therefore not catch anything else with the same lure.

    Well, not really. I personally prefer skewering helpless worms on the hook while cackling madly at their tiny screams.

      Yup Tobin you're right. The problem is, Verant probably could care less about fishing lures, it's dead last on their to-do list, so expect this to change in a year or so.

        My idea for lures would be a crafted item that had charges of "Summon: Fishing Bait". Lower trivial crafted lures would have 5 charges, Mid-trivial lures would have 10 charges, and higher trivial ones would have 20 charges. Perhaps they could add in a >200 trivial lure that never ran out of charges, akin to the fisherman's companion.

          Okay people honestly...

          Look guys, give Verant a break...

          Have you EVER in your whole fishing careers seen any kind of vegitation in a body of water? (No, the green haze doesn't count, that's from all the brewers just dumping their barrels out...)

          Without vegitation small critters like insects and stuff have nothing to eat and no where to breed.

          Without little critters there's nothing for minnows to eat.

          You've seen the size of some of those fish, what on earth do they have to eat in those ponds?

          Imagine spending your entire lifecycle with nothing to eat because some careless programmer never borrowed a book on keeping goldfish from his public library...

          Sure it's metal hooks, bat wings, and string... but when you're that hungry...

              On my wish list...

              Anizok's Bait Device

base prototype
gnomish bolts
static orb
class 6 mana battery
Cork
Spriket[/list:u]Recharged with class 1 mana battery

              This device would work the same as an Anizok's gauze press but would summon 20 stacks of Animated Bait. Since the resale price of Animated Bait is so low the recharge cost of a class 1 mana battery would not allow a user to make profit from this device.

              This is simple to place into the game.

One new spell - Summon: Animated Bait
One new item - Anizok's Bait Device
NO new graphic -same as other Anizok items
New tradeskill recipe - see above
New tradeskill recipe - recharge same as Anizok's gauze press[/list:u]Now for the good part...

Anizok's Bait Device
Collapsible Toolbox
Fisherman's Companion
stack of class 1 mana battery
nice quite lake[/list:u]What do you think?
