Probably because it is mostly not considered a real tradeskill, despite the few combines possible with it. Additionally, mods don't help with actual FISHING once you get to 200.

While fishing may not be considered a tradeskill, it is diffinately considered a sport. Just about all sports have trophies. I say 'just about' as a CYA, but I can't think of any sports that don't have a trophy. A test could easily be set up as a timed task to catch X numbers of various types of fish. The trophy doesn't even need to have a %mod on it, but it would seem appropriate that fishing have a trophy associated with it.

not really that many recipes for fishing. there is a huge gap in skill levels if you check the triv lsit

Fisherman's Companion is the closest you can really get to a trophy. Add a bait dispenser to that and your good to go. Will have unliminted fishing poles, bait & ale. You'll never have to be social again.

hmm *wiggles eyebrows* you should see the skill I have in killing mobs with a fishing pole

*remembers many a year ago when Kunark was not discovered yet, and a fishing pole looked just like my uber observers staff. And with said staff..* looks meanly at anyone who notices it is actually a fishing pole* tried to kill a gnoll in HHK and was utterly devastated when noticing in the corner of my eye the text ..."broke"....arghhhh I broke my observers staff!*

kidding aside, thank you for the answer, who knows maybe one day fishing will be come a tradeskill

Isn't the trophy for fishing the fish??

I mean. Most fishing trophies I can think of are just big fish mounted on walls/plaques (and not ones that sing).

oh no's... please don't make it a tradeskill!!! next thing ya know, all the nice quiet places to fish/work on spell casting/mend skillups will be rampaged, and the price of fishing bait will skyrocket!

I think in terms of fishing trophies it would be great if there was a combine to create "Mounted Fish Trophy" or some such.

I run fishing contests fairly often for my guild and it would be great to give something like that out as prizes.

I also like the idea of a combine that takes a cloth cap and several different kinds of lures to make a "fisherman's cap", perhaps with a +% to alcohol tolerance. No other stats, so it would be useless in combat, but you could wear your cap while fishing and drinking beer to make it so you could drink more beer

I like that idea, infact been thinking for a while it be so nice if there was a gift shop in Norrath. What about a bouquet of roses/lilles/voilets a box of chocolate, a book of poetry, trophies, special fireworks, or sweets. Silly things that would make roleplaying even nicer.

Would be cool to be able to give someone a birthday card, just that, no stats needed.

another reason to oppose a "fishing trophy", at least for me... being the awesome expert at fishing that i am.... i much prefer the tried an true old school approach of "lieing through my teeth"

This is just a thought, but is it possible that the fishermen in Abysmal sea with thier "very ornate-fly" that each uses or talks about is an in game Trophy quest. They all sit around telling fish stories when you sit with them with a fishing pole in hand, I even had them tell me to "pull up a chair and tell them a story" but I could not get them to respond to any typed in prompts. I am sorry to say I didn't try this until my fishing skill was at 200 so not sure if that made a difference. All that to say, It would be interesting if those of you who have fished all over Norath and beyond tried to initiate some converstaion and specifically the very ornate fly thing that each fisherman uses when they walk off to thier seperate places to fish. Please let me know what you uber fishermen/woman find.

The trophy tasks have a max of 20 steps. Why not make a task to turn in 20 different zone special fish from various zones around Norrath? I for one would be all over a quest like that.

While a percent mod doesn't help when fishing skill is 200, a trophy could have quite a few things that would be nice. Summon bait, clickie buff with minus to fishing skill (to catch stuff not available at higher skill), and woot how about casting HASTE!, or even catch multiple fish chance with trophy equipped. There already is a multi-forage in game. How about rare fish only available with trophy equipped. "You have caught sea dragon meat" while in Cobalt Scar would be really sweet to see =)
