  • Begining Fishing

I was thinking about begining fishing. Do I need to constantly change zones? Ya know what I saying? To go from lvl 10 -20 go to blah blah zone. That would suck. Any of you expert anglers have any ideas? I just want to stay in one area untill i get uber at fishing. I am not concerned with the special fish you can get in each area. So whats up?

For just simple easy, the fishing pond in PoK is best. Got the bait and poles right there, lots of text to watch scroll by and, as said above, for just skill ups it doesn't matter where you are

if you have access to Gulf of Gunthak, it is also a good place to fish, the fish there will net more money than would fishing in PoK.

thanks for the Info. Making cash on this atm does not mean anything to me. Doing tradskills just for cash is not for me. I do it for the fun of the game. I pity those who do it for any other reason.

well, there are a few other reasons for gunthak, the ovate jellyfish are at triv 148 poison for rogues, gives a DoT. That's what drew me there.

The sea urchin and moray eel make a nice stat food with a moderatly low triv.

Make sure you do this quest - Fisherman's Companion

Provides unlimited fishing rods with +3% skill modifier plus each fishing rod summons unlimited ale. You should be able to pick up the required bones from the bazaar fairly cheaply.

Consider also going to Natimbi - easy to get to from Guild lobby - merchant and water right next to Magus. The real bonus? Take a mixing bowl. You can break the big Tuna and Crabs into smaller bits as you fish so work on Baking at same time. These fish (with other store bought items) can then get your Baking all the way up to 200.

Abysmal sea is even better as you can run to the baking/brewing merchants in 30 seconds from the fishing spot.

Now that vegetables can be made from store bought components, you only need eggs to get you to 252 baking with the fish you catch. Delaying the move to MTPs is probably a good thing (although probably not relevant after tomorrow's patch).

Darn it all! I cannot use the link because of a Web Sense block on web sites that deal with games. This the only web site that is not blocked. I guess everyone wonders why blocked? HEHEHe I come here during work hours when I get bored!

                      You say, 'Hail, Ramos Jerwan'

Ramos Jerwan says 'Good day traveler... perhaps you have come to help me with my studies?'

You say, 'I can help you with your studies.'

Ramos Jerwan says 'It's quite simple really. I'm interested in studying some aquatic specimens from around the planes... will you take up your pole and give me a hand?'

You say, 'How can I give you a hand?'

Ramos Jerwan says 'There are some particularly interesting cichlid swimming about in the Plane of Nightmare. I also hear the discus in the Plane of Valor are quite plentiful. I need you to bring me two sets of bones from each for study. You do know how to extract them, yes? If not, I believe the lovely Peras Glickon may have something that can instruct you. Best of luck lad.'

Nightmare Cichlid are fished in Plane of Nightmare, and Vallorian [sic] Discus are fished in Plane of Valor. Prepare these as per the standard prepared fish recipe: fish, roots, celandine herb, filleting knife in a tackle box, trivial 182. Give two of each type of bones to Ramos Jerwan.

Ramos Jerwan says 'Ah, you've done quite well. Take this, it's a special gift I recovered from a recent adventure, and I can think of no greater person to keep it than you. Remember if you're in need of fishing supplies, come see us any time.'

The reward is Fisherman's Companion, which summons Brell's Fishing Pole, adds 3% to Fishing skill, and, most importantly, summons ale.

Not quite one step. But if you break your tuna and crab into the meat, you can turn the meat into Beer-braised tuna rolls (triv 202) with a few store bought items in Abysmal sea.

                              After the Fisherman's Companion

Did this quest the other day for Fisherman's Companion and was pretty easy. I have a skill of 140 in fishing and caught a nice amount of fish in both POV and PON. My problem is that now when I try to go back to do more fishing, I can not even get past the POT stone in the POK. Keeps saying I have not experienced enough to go through. I know of a few others who have had this problem but can not tell me why. Someone now has told me that I need to be at least lvl 40 to get in there (I am a lvl 38), but this is not possible because I have already been there. Any one have an idea why this happens?
