that's about the normal catch rate sadly. And yes, they likely will sell for that.

Somewhere around here (or maybe at the eqlive site?) there is another recent thread about folks noticing an increased failure rate on tradeskill combines, including but not limited to items with a trivial significantly under the person's current skill. Most of the replies have the flavor of 'nothing changed, you just got bit by the RNG'.

Given that something seems to have broken the 'success' rate of catching rare fish ... the higher your skill, the fewer zone-specific fish you catch ... it seems quite possible that something is affecting 'success' rate of combines in the same manner.

I don't know the answer. I haven't been doing much fishing or many tradeskill combines lately for a variety of reasons. But when numerous people over an extended period of time sense the same pattern, I tend to lend credibility to the reports.

Yes, I can also confirm that those with higher fishing skill are those getting bitten the hardest. So do we have any confirmation on when they are REALLY going to fix this for us?
You can run and you can hide, but I'll track until I find.

As posted by Nolrog, Community Correspondent on the EQLive boards:

This should be fixed in the next update on the 15th.

Oh, if it's not in the February 15th patch, it will be in the February 16th patch or the February 17th patch or the...

I'm just joking. I really think the developers learned from the Shadows of Luclin release mess and my recent expansion patching experiences have been reasonably smooth.

My druid shall load up on fishing grubs and summon a new fishin' pole and see if the cobalt cods are biting tonight.

                Relax folks!

One of the mods (Ashlanne) at EQLive forums posted that the fix DID go live, but as we all know by now, not everything makes it into the patch message.
