what stat for fishing?

I was wondering if any stat effects skillups when fishing. If the answer is none then my next question is does being drunk effect my fishing skillups?

I did a search but nothing came up about stats and fishing.

The higher of Wis or Int affects your skilling in all trade skills. Recently we had confirmation that Str affects smithing and Dex affect fletching and the devs advised that no other tradeskill had such secondary stats. However in previous times the devs have also said that they don't consider fishing as a tradeskill so there is still the possibility that fishing might have a secondary stat after all.

Common theory is that fishing might have a secondary stat of Str, however there isn't much hard facts to back up this theory. Drinking yourself stupid will increase your str but it will seriously damage your wis and int so in my view it's not worth doing.

I wouldn't worry about getting alchohol tolerance up as all you need for that is a fishing companion and a few hours to sit in PoK and get stone blind drunk. Only took me a few hours to go from 0 to 200 that way. Its the fishing skillups that take the time.
