Fishing mods.

I realise the blessed fishing rod (for ft/dru earring quest) has a 5% fishing mod, but do the foraged grubs with 2 and 3% mod on them work to ?
Anyone have any other fishing mod items ?
Want to make blessed fishing rods, but also want to be over the trivial on them... 206... to avoid those failures a lil,,

Grubs do work if they are in the ammo slot.

Keep in mind that only the highest % mod takes effect though.

The pole summoned with Brells fisherman's companion has - umm - 3%.

Blessed fishing rod should hold it's value. You may want to consider buying one before you start, then selling it back when you are done making them. I keep one all the time for the mod.

Or make the first one with 3% mod (still about 95% chance of success) then swap to BFR after you succeed on the first.

Shadowhaven & Tinkered

Back in the stouts section of Shadowhaven near the Pottery Wheel & Kiln, Hintel sells improved bait and his fishing pool with 3% stat bonus.
The Tavern where you can find Commissioner Henry also sells fishing flies.
Tinkered Animated Bait and Collapsable Fishin pole additionally have %5 stat bonus.

I was doing some experience grinding with my tracker/forager ranger alt the other day in Gunthak on the beach near where the cave goes up into Dulak. I don't remember exactly if I foraged or looted, but I obtained an item that looks like a crab and gives 5% fishing bonus in the ammo slot. Not sure how rare this is and have yet to transfer it over to my trade skill toon, in fact I haven't played her in a while and forgot about it, but I remember thinking at the time that this would be a better alternative than fishing with a Blessed Fishing Pole that might break. Just summon up the old Brells and use this instead. I guess I will go check on the name and look it up.

The bait item that Yitara was talking about is a common forage item in Gunthak and Dulak. Some foragers that don't do fishing usually sell them to the vendors in the Gunthak light house. They re-sell them for a plat each.

I don't think the mods stack, but if they do it would be nice.

The best zone for a forager to raise their fishing is Gunthak, you can fish all day next to a merchant and bank and even forage some great bait.

Using a blessed fishing pole for fishing is a bad idea, they break just like any other rod. There are just to valuable to use for fishing. However if its just for combines in your tackle box then there is no risk of breakage there that I know of.

I used to spend ages making up animated bait in the hope it would make some magical difference to my catches but to be honest bog standard bait or grubs is more than enough especially if you use the Brell's fishing rod or the tinkered collapsible fishing rod. And while making up fishing flies is a nice hobby it is far too expensive to do compared to the tiny difference it might make.

For me I wouldn't give up my fishing companion for anything, a constant supply of fishing poles and a constant supply of ale - what more could you want?
