Fishing in Abysmal Sea

I returned to the water-level dock in Abysmal Sea to catch more crab and tuna but I could not find any place on the dock or on the ramp to the water where I could fish. I got the "Trying to catch land sharks message?" Does anyone know what has happened or where else i could fish in AS?

I usually lev my self and stand over the water, that is also what I did before the nerft fishing since so many people were there trying to fish. Seem to be fine when I did that or at the very bottom of the ramp to the dock. also right there at the dock there is what looks like booeys that the dock sits on if you get in the nook there on one of them and sit that is good for fishing. Just dont see on the side the boat comes on or you will be in a new zone dead fast.

I also could not find a place last night where I could consistently not get a land shark message. Perhaps it has to do with the recent geometry changes, but after an hour, at 200 skill, I had a total of 4 catches of anything. So, it's not just you.

I cannot fish in AS either.. not at all. I've tried from the docks and the buoys. I've tried lev'd and non lev'd. I've tried from all directions, sitting and standing and it just keeps telling me about land sharks

I'll check this out since it's been a few weeks since I've been here, but the back of the boat where you can start heading down to the water (but you stay on the boat) is where I did all my fishing.

Just tried for 20 minutes- not only could I not find a place to fish on the dock, but I couldn't do it lev'd either. Even with my toes hanging off the edge of the dock and hanging on with only the edge of my heels, I got "Trying to catch a land shark perhaps?" "Trying to catch a land shark perhaps?" Trying to catch a landshark perhaps?" GAH!

When I did levi, I sank through the surface of the water, and got "you must be on dry land to begin fishing" message.

As an alternative, I decided to go to Natimbi. I went straight down to the water in front of the magus, and fished there invis'ed. I also made a hotkey (which I needed a couple of times, lol) for /say Nedaria in case of a rapid escape being required.

I had the same problem last night, and sent a bug report. Hopefully it's just a momentary error and not an intentional change.

Go to Natimbi. Once in zone head a little deeper into the Adventure Camp (away from the beasties) and fish at the beach. Never needed an invis or hot key to escape and my Ranger 32 has fished/foraged there a lot. She did get a tell that it was instant death to be there but since they changed the /con on the mobs around the camp to dubious, it has just not been an issue. Take a mixing bowl and break the crab/tuna down as you fish to save space.

Can't fish at Abysmal Sea

I get the same message about Land Sharks. Hope this is just temporary. I reported it as a bug in gameplay about a week ago. Hopefully the more people report it..the better chance the problem gets fixed. One can only hope. Where else can you fish for tuna and crab safely at level 20.

Still getting "land sharks"

I noticed they still haven't fixed the fishing in AS issue, despite the developers promise to fix it in the next patch... that promise was made last year.

I've wandered about that zone trying to fish and it worked once. The developers said that it was because the sea in AS is unusually deep. Perhaps a code fix would have been to project the person a couple of feet in the direction they are fishing in and see if they sink and start drowning; if yes, then they can fish!

Oh well, it's obviously not a priority. Most people are happy to go to natimbi instead but my baking character is not tough enough to survive there and shouldn't have to be: The only thing i got out of GoD was AS and to have that zone broken in such an important way since last year is outrageous. A lot of people left because of GoD and I'm not surprised.

I guess I can bake elsewhere using more expensive and difficult recipes, but if I could get a refund on GoD I would.

What level is your character? I have a 43 druid and fish in natimbi all the time because of the AS fishing issue. I just fish on the shore by the merchants and have never had a problem. You might want to give it a try.

My Ranger 32 fishes in Natimbi also and has had zero problems; the mobs around the Adventure Camp are indifferent now but stay near the camp just in case.

I don't think they had a patch since the developer said they would fix the fishing problem in Abysmal Sea. Anyway, I think if we all keep on reporting it as a bug...hopefully it will get fixed sooner or later. Meanwhile, I have a 19 level druid which I have taken to Natimbi. I just camouflage myself and fish near the camps. Haven't had a problem. Hope this helps.
