I went to Abysmal Sea and Natimbi today and busted out the ole fishing pole. I noticed that the tuna and crab I caught sold to vendors for a few platinum each, depending on the weight. So I went to Abysmal to get a good test, and here's what I found out:
1. You won't catch fresh fish. At least I didn't, with a skill of 183. The only things I caught were tuna and crab of various weight, and the occasional dagger and sandal.
2. If you carry a mixing bowl, you can combine one tuna or crab, by itself, and convert it into 1 lb. pieces so that all will stack. When you sell to vendors, the price evens out exactly as it would if you didn't convert them.
3. With 3 stacks of bait, I made 270 platinum. Not crazy money, but it's significantly better than any LDON runs that I do, and far better than any other fishing spot I've ever heard of.
If you forage while you fish, I'd recommend going to Natimbi since the stuff you forage there is new and mostly used for tradeskills, whereas in Abysmal the only things you forage are the standard fruit, water, veggies, etc.
Hope this helps.
