    gerlook

with gerlooks, if i use one, and my skill goes over 200, then i unequip it, and work on baking, will i not be able to get baking over 200 because brewing had once been over 200, or can i get baking over, and use a gerlook to get brewing over?

No. Geerloks only change your effective skill. Not your actual listed skill. So if you are using a geerlok and skill all the way to 200 and stop, your skill is at 200. Just because your effective skill was higher by 5% doesn't mean anything - your actual real skill is still 200. If you stop at 200 brewing with geerlok you can still stop and take another skill over 200 first if you so desire.

That's what I did, lunisdul, and I don't regret it at all (baking first, then brewing). Of course... I didn't like being stuck at 200 while potentially getting skill, so i did have to invest in AA points to do Brewing too

And don't worry too much about levels for Baking &/or brewing (other than AA points). Thanks to the Bazaar, you can buy just about anything you'd want to bake or brew for profit, or you can forage it yourself (albeit slowly as a bard). I CAN hunt for stuff I need, but i don't. i just buy it all.
