  • General Dumb Question

OK...I know this is gonna sound really stupid, especially since I am a Master Brewer ops: but.... The other night a friend asked me if I would Brew him some alchohol to help his Monk skill up. I said ..."errr sure bud, but I'm not sure what your asking for ?" He said you know whatever you can do to help me out skill faster.

So that got me thinking.... I know some drinks add stats..I know different types..whistle wetters, drinks, enduring drinks etc..ect have different longevity. Do different types of alchohol get you drunk faster and by drinking less ?? If so are there any charts or guidelines to go by ?

It would seem to me (provided EQ emulates RL here) that Ales and wines would kinda get you drunk after a 5 or 6 ..and say Vodka or Triple Stout would work a little faster with less having to be consumed. Is this true to the game also ?

Any help answering will be GREATLY appreciated as I hate to leave a question posed to me unanswered if at all possible. I try to provide as true and as accurate knowledge to people who take interest in my skills in hopes perhaps I can turn them on to doing the skills themselves sometime.

    Thanks Wilee Castusmaximas

Interesting question. Short answer is: I don't know. I've only skilled up AT here and there throughout the years. I'd guess that the only real way to test it would be to create a series of alts and feed them various kinds of alcohol and see how the skill progresses. To get an honest sample, though, you'd need to run each test several times. And I don't know if AT is level capped or not.

I could be wrong, but I believe that AT is level capped... I know my Dwarf was level 39 when he got 200 AT, but that could be coincidence.

As far as what will help you skill faster... choose something WEAK like Honey Mead, drink until you can't, camp out, log back on your AT character, drink more, etc.

you can skill up pretty fast that way.

Just an FYI.. it looks as if logging out doesn't sober you up anymore. You have to just sit, wait, and be patient.

Or have someone off you. Death is a sure fire cure for drunkenness. *grin*

Getting rezzed no longer cures drunkeness. Get you friend the fishermans companion, then he can summon all the beer he wants.

Rezzing might not cure drunkenness, but it looks like *dying* still does.

Just bind, /duel, and die. Drink, /duel, die. Rinse and repeat. Don't forget to pick your stuff off your first corpse when you finish.

              Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for the help & ideas

Wow, I'd like to say thanks everyone for your time to input. Since there is no definitive answer I may try to experiment and post some results as soon as I get some spare time. I think since dying DOES clear alchohol that perhaps I will try the experiment using 2 different charecters of the same race & class (in case there is a racial difference as there is in food consumption...besides it's well known those stout little Dwarfs can drink & drink & drink & drink ) keep em both below lvl 10 and bind em both near some guards that I can easily smack around... getting AT up to even 50 should give an idea as to if there is any differences dont you think ?

One will drink some mead one get the good stuff LOL. Will let you all know as soon as possible.

                Thanks again , Wilee Castusmaximas

AT IS level capped. I tossed down 3 stacks too many of mead before I found that out. I figured I was too drunk to notice I wasn't getting anywhere. Also, (from my experience) there does seem to be differences in alcohol potency. I can get completely drunk on far fewer vodkas than fish wine (not sure on the numbers, but it takes ~ 3/4 of a stack of wine to do what 6-7 vodkas will with my AT where it is now).

                    Thanks

Thanks Morani, that is basically what I was wondering. I think I may still give the experiment a try sometime to see if I can see a pattern concerning different type. After thinking on the subject it would make sense to me that different types of alchohol WOULD be stronger. A.) Why make the variety of alchohols available with no visable stat changes. B.) It is much easier for said Warrior to carry 2 stacks of vodka vs. 8 stacks of ale LOL.

Thanks for all posts and will get back to this asap.

I just bough Honey Mead; the cheapest drunk out there; and always carried some on me. I'd right click one, then wait for the effects to wear off. I remember being labeled the "guild lush" on a Chardok raid once....

One item I have noticed that seems very potent is Skull Ale. While practicing Brewing I usually ended my sessions by placing myself in the Bazaar, get in trader mode and then take a couple of hefty swigs.

Skull Ale lowered my INT and WIS by around 40 per each one I drank. I also got a skill-up at almost every swig between AT 20-45.

                        Good Luck.

I don't know if this is true or not but I tend to see that higher trivial alcohol drinks tend to get you drunk faster. I am no where near max on AT but I have given out tons of drinks while skilling up. The general consensus is that higher the trivial, faster you get drunk and skill up faster too on AT. Just a thought.
