  • Kaladim Constitutionals - Upwards price pressure

    I don't know about others out there but as cheap as these are to make at 250 skill, I have been making a fortune charging 50pp a pop in the bazaar. My competators usually go for 25pp a pop but I consistantly sell out at 50pp per.

    My question as a new tradeskiller, do tradesmen as a community have any set guidelines for charging for items or is it strictly what the market can bear? Frankly I like selling at 50 a shot makes the plat roll in fast for other skills.

    Supply v Demand

    It's really all about what the market will bear, and supply & demand. If there is someone consistently out-producing you and underselling you, you are never going to move a unit unless that person is offline or adventuring. If the others selling at a lower price than you are intermittent enough that you can still move some product at the higher price, stick to your guns. Of course, with 368K in the bank (per one of your previous posts), why on earth are you worried about what you charge?

        Jeez, and I had thought brewing was a throw-away skill just useful for my smithing and tailoring. Am at 241 now, maybe I'll try to push it higher.

          Do players follow a set of guidelines for pricing. No, at least on Tarrew Marr I don't think that is the case.

          I honestly think its what the market (and yourself) can bear.

            On Xegony Constitutionals consistantly sell out at 15-25pp per. One person has his at 50, but I never see the amount he's selling drop. I think he's been boycotted. This is the same guy selling Grobb's for 30pp each. :shock:

              Not SELLING....listing. There is a difference.

                I try very hard to get folks all on the same page on TM. Usually, with a couple of well-worded tells, everyone starts selling for the same price, and we all make ok plat.....

                  What do you say to folks Etadera? All I got when I used to try to talk to folks was swearing and rudeness. Of course this is on The Nameless, where folks seem to truly enjoy swearing and rudeness. I don't :P

                    I made a bunch of Kaladim Constitutionals for my sprint from 248 to 250 brewing skill. I undercut the market on Povar by pricing them at 20pp each. Prices range from 25-50pp. Initially, I was going to sell my skill-up inventory and then leave the market. I sold about a stack a night.

                    As a tradeskill junkie, I changed my mind, and am now a regular supplier of Kaladims. My price is still 20pp each. I think this is a fair price for the effort I put in.

                    I'm surprised that no one on Povar has price-matched me. The posted prices have stayed rock-steady.

                    I've never been contacted about 'fixing' a market price.

                    Last night, my visible inventory of four stacks was completely bought out by one buyer. I'm not sure if it was for personal use, or whether he was trying to prop up the market by buying me out. Happily, I have another 12 stacks ready to sell.

                      What happens when someone sells at 18pp each, you going to go to 17? it just gets worse for everyone. I raised my price yesterday from 20 to 25 to match what everyone else was selling.

                        I'm not positive what I would do if someone dropped it to 18. Probably I would stay at 20, because I think that's a fair price. If Kaladim's stayed in my inventory too long, I would undercut to get rid of my supply, and then leave the market.

                        I've faced similar situations many times before. I've been a grandmaster tailor for quite some time and compete in the Velious and Tunarean Soldier armor market. In a competitive marketplace you have many options. These include

                        * Undercut with normal inventory
                        * Undercut and flood the market
                        * Heavy discount with lots of supply (seldom used because it's self-destructive, but sometimes it's a great way to send a message to the perpetual undercutter)
                        * Price match
                        * Stay firm at higher price
                        * Buy out competitor's inventory to maintain market prices
                        * Have a chat with the competitor to reach a common strategy
                        * Exit the market because of competition

                        I've used them all. It's very situation dependent. It's also fun.

                          Ah, so I have you to blame!

                          Actually, my husband and I have had no problems selling ours for 25p on Povar, which is what we thought was a fair price for our time (no slam meant, just a statement ) so we have both been doing ok. You sell out and they buy mine. We're both happy, you just get your money faster Thicket.

                          Guess we're in the "stay firm with a higher price category", but as we're not looking for the bulk market as you are, again, we're both happy. And since there are only a few constant suppliers on our server, his actions don't bother me too much, and I'm sure mine don't bother him at all.

                            WOW! I wish I could be making such awesome returns. As it stands now I am only making about an 85% profit selling them for 10pp each on Tholuxe.

                            They just wouldn't sell at any other price, and others list theirs at 15pp and their stock QTY never changes. It's cheap to make, but requires some hairy subcombines (26pp fermented yarrow /curse SoE). I just wish I get could what you guys/gals are getting.

                            /sigh

                              15pp each on my server. Not sure I'll bother.
