  • Bleeeding Brains?

I know they're pretty much a waste as far as skill ups and such, but I need to make a butt ton of these for an entrance quest into a guild. I am currently brewing the vodkas that will be needed, but I had a quick question that hopefully somebody can help me out with.

The recipe requires fire beetle eyes, which will be the biggest pain because they don't stack. Can someone reccomend a good place to brew these puppies so that I will have as little zoning to do as possible? The best place I can think of is in Qeynos. Kill the fire beetles outside in the newbie area, buy them off newbies, and brew at Crow's. Can anyone think of a better place? Possibly with a higher concentration of fire beetles?

Second question is about containers. I want to be able to collect as many as possible to reduce downtime in the actual brewing process. Can anyone think of a better container than hand made backpacks? Allowing two slots to hold vodkas, spices, and shot glasses, that should leave me six slots to hold hand made backpacks, so 60 fire beetle eyes, which means two trips assuming no fails (yeah right ) Can anybody think of an easier scenario?

    Thanks for any help, guys!

I can think of two places to try. One is Misty Thicket and Rivervale. The newbie area of Misty has a good number of bugs to supply the eyes and one zone away in Rivervale are at least two brew barrels. However, the better place may be Freeport. The newbie area there is crawling with bugs and there is one brew barrel that I know of that you can reach without zoning at all. The advantage of Rivervale is that at least one of the brew barrels is free most of the time. The advantage of Freeport is that you don’t have to zone. If you can find a second brew barrel in that same zone of Freeport then I would suggest giving that zone a try. But to be honest, though I don’t know Qeynos very well, if you don’t have to zone between the beetles and the brew barrel you might do well just staying there.

As for backpacks, I’m afraid 10 slot containers are the best you’re going to do. There are 10 slot containers with better weight reduction, but as far as volume goes, your handmade backpacks will do fine. Another 10 slot container that you can buy that’s fairly cheap, less then 2pp each, are giant toolboxes in PoK. The gnome who sells them stands a couple of rooms back in the same building with the potter wheels, just a short way from the bank.

Best of luck with your brains.

Actually the noob area in North freeport is greta for this lots of fire beetle eyes and a brew barrel in the same zone. you also have EC to go vender farming for eyes as well.

I would say West Freeport. Tons of fire beetles, a newbie vendor to mine for them, a brew barrel, all in the same zone!

I was thinking of Freeport as well, but was thinking there's not a brew barrel in West Freeport. I remember where it is now, so that may be an option. Thanks for the help, guys! Hopefully I'll be able to skill on up to 168 while doing this.

Definately West Freeport. When I made them, that's where I did it. I bought all my eyes from Boomba, and he never ran out! Lots of newbies selling to him. This was a while ago of course, but I bet you can still get a LOT of firebeetle eyes from him, and from Ping out by the tents.

            Good luck!
