Can brewing be taken from 1 to 248 in PoK?

Okay, I’m being a bit lazy. I haven’t’ searched through all the vendor listing in PoK to see if everything, especially the Hero Brew, can be done in that zone. I thought perhaps someone here might have made these items in PoK and know off the top of their heads.

A friend wants to take up brewing and his gnome necromancer is KOS in many zones. So he was hoping he could pursue the trade skill in PoK alone. If that won’t work, Shadow Haven would also do.

I believe you can take yourself to 248 in PoK, but there are a few pains in the rear. Mainly, no Faydwer Shakers, which in most peoples opinion is needed right after skull ale/fetid essence. So youll most likely be jumping from Fetid Essence right into MHB. Which is fine, but youll have to brew your own short beer as well.

If you are willing to travel a bit, Fungus Grove has the three cultural brews needed for Faydwer Shakers and a gnome in SH sells the short beer(ale? i forget which) thats also needed. Between FG, SH and PoK youll be fine, just get some ice for your wrists. Good luck!

You CAN do it all in PoK. But I'd say it's far easier to do Shakers in Seru or Highpass, then Mino Brew in Halas.

Thanks for the replies. From what I understand my friend has gone into trade skill overdrive. So he seems to have figured things out for himself.

As for Halas, I’m afraid if he stepped foot in that city every barbarian within shouting distance would be on him within seconds. And since he hunted guards in Highpass, I’m not sure about his doing trade skills in that zone either. But as I said, he seems to have it under control now.

mino hero's brew can EASILY be done in neriak with a small amount of walking (no zoning) upstairs by the soulbinder is the brew barrel. Everything building you need is within sight distance. Even the barley, yeast whatever is upstairs on ogre in the balcany

If your a gnome necro you shouldn't have a problem buying stuff there (and shouldn't be kos either)

Firiona Vie is an ideal place to do Mino as well. You barely have to walk, and hardly anyone in the zone.

PoK is the only place to start brewing because you can purchase fishing grubs there (grubs + water = 122). From there you have a few options. You could go straight to MHB. I pitty your wrists and the carpel tunnel syndrom you develop if you go this route. OTFB will take you to 135 (Barley + Hops + Yeast + Malt + Cask = 135). All ingredients are available from any brewing merchant. At 135 I would suggest leaving PoK and doing one of two things Faydwer Shakers (Elven Wine + Gnomish Spirits + Dwarven Ale + Mead + Cask = 188) or if you don't mind a bit of running around Shar Vahl Essence (payala fruit + water = 187). My choice is the SVE. In Shadeweaver Thicket there are 26 fixed ground spawns of the fruit. They are on a 6 minute or so timer. You can collect all the fruit you need in about an hour to get from 135 to 187 if no one else is collecting. From there you are best to do MHB. My MHB spot is Halas. Everything is in one room, low trafic and second brew barrel in a near by building if the first is busy.

People keep mentioning doing MHB in Halas. If oyu read the orginal post, the brewer in question is a gnome necromancer, and I can tell you from experience he'd DEFINITELY be KOS there.

Gnome necros shouldn't have any faction problems with Neriak, and all the ingredients you need to make MHB can be found in the Neriak Foreign Quarter. So no zoning for stuff.

Suggestions above for putting off MHB all are quite good, hehe. But Halas isn't really an option for a gnome necro, unless you want to do some very tedious faction work; Halas is one of the hardest cities to become non-KOS to if you start that way.

Also to the people who suggested Highpass and Firiona Vie, a gnome necro would be KOS in those places, too. I'm not sure about Sanctus Seru; I've heard some people say that followers of evil deities are OK as long as they're not an evil race, but I've also heard of a human SK who found out he starts KOS there.

Yes as Gnome Necro is KOS in Seru by default. I killed alot of ppl in Twilight sea and was still kos in SS. So dont bother trying.

Seems to me like if you want to do Mino Brew in PoK, the best bet for the short beer is a hop over to SH. Also, I think just about every home town carries short beer. So get a couple of 10 slot containers, such as the tailored backpacks I sell on the E-marr server (blatant plug!!), and fill them up with beer, then head on over to PoK for the rest of your supplies. If you go to SH via Nexus book you'll never go anywhere you'll be KoS no matter what race/class combo you come up with.

Go buy two backpacks full of short beer in shadowhaven, then the rest can be bought near the brew barrel in PoK for MHB.

East freeport is great for faydwer shakers as well. All 4 brews sold on the merchant in seafares roost (down past the docks) and casks sold in Traders Holiday. Particularly good when you fail a lot and consume fewer casks (so less running).

What I wouldn't give for stacking casks at times...

Do the brewing in PoK (inc. Mino's) and at 248 head to Bazaar and pick up a couple of Kaladim Constitutions off a PC Merchant. Go back to PoK and get the fermenting powder from Grimil and make the Twice Brewed. Alas, that is what I did and in less than a stack or half stack, I got 250.

totally agree!! everythng but the water is 3 steps away frome each other including the brewbarrel, all in one building. The water is a cpl o huts away near the entrence to town.

Did my skill ups here to 200, started on MHB at 89 skill lol, skill ups were fast and furious, and fails kept out unwanted sucesses, making MHB's are for skill-ups really, not really drinking, unless u wanna work tolerence too. 8)

You can make MHBs in the Ak'Anon bar. Everything you need is right there except for water, which is right outside the door.
