  • Tea Leaves *grumbles*

Alright, what's the deal with the tea leaves? Anyone know?

I started with my 27 druid w/89 foraging, and ended with 28 druid w/102 foraging.

10 hours in Eastern Karana total. I have 27 tea leaves.

    6 from vendors
10 from another druid who saved them for me.
    11 foraged myself.

That's right, I only foraged an average of one tea leaf per hour. *grumbles*

The only difference I saw when I made 101, 102 foraging, was that I got a LOT more plains pebbles. Otherwise, getting over 100 was no change.

Someone linked the foraging machete for me, so I'll probably take the time to go try that out for that extra 10% forage, but MAN these tea leaves are hard to come by.

I think I'll just brew up what I have and see how it sells. Save a few for my casters too. I can't imagine that to many people sell the Qeynos afternoon tea, considering how hard leaves are to come by.

    EDIT: I cen spel, reely!

      Tea Leaves

Even at 200 foraging, they still don't exactly fly onto my pointer. Try auctioning to trade a finished tea per leaf (a stack for a stack, if you will).

As far as a market for them, if the price is right, they will fly out of your Trader's Satchels. For hybrids and casters, QAT is pretty much the best-balanced beverage available.

Alternatively, you could join a guild where you are the *only* GM brewer available, and supply your guild mates with QAT at a reduced cost. After all, it's not like the tea really costs all that much to make. On Rodcet Nife, however, I have seen QAT prices drop from an initial high of 20pp to 12pp within the past month or so, YMMV.

Here's what I do (if I don't have my ranger forage them):

If I don't really know you, I'll give you 1/3 of the total made. I usually (if I have them in stock) just hand over the appropriate amount (2 stacks of finished product for a full stack of leaves) and eat the occassional failure myself.

If you're a friend or guildmate, you get 1/2 of the total made.

If you're Kitaqua, you get 2/3--but that's because she has to keep that husband of her's stocked up too :P

Well, I started trying to Forage them Teusday...

It's now Monday morning, and I have 55 leaves.

            13 bought from vendors
            10 from another druid
            32 foraged myself.

That's in 6 days of foraging 2-4 hours a day!

And my forage is only up to 106. THAT is getting annoying. My wis is almost 210, I'd hoped for a MUCH better foraging skill increase rate.

Until I get my foraging up WAY higher, I think I'm done. Going to transfer these to my brewer and get making some Tea! I probalby won't sell it either. Going to keep it on my casters. *sigh*

Nice drink! Foraging leave sucks at my skill level!

              A royal pain...

              Tea leaves are a pain.

I had a 50+ ranger out in the Karanas foraging. Foraging, fishing, killing for pelts, etc. (maxed out foraging, IIRC).

In the time it took to get a stack of tea leaves, he had gotten up to about 150 skill fishing from 10 (ran out of bait), and several stacks of cat pelts of various qualities. UGH

I dinged 3 levels in EK with my now 22 druid and got four (4) tea leaves. I have over a stack of Plains Pebbles (which is good since I am a halfling), but not so good on Tea leaves.

                    Foraging Machette

I have not noticed any improvement in the quantity of rare forages obtained with a foraging machette equipped at 200 foraging. I have not actually parsed or accumulated a scientific data set. If/when my home computer is finally repaired (HD=toast ), I shall endeavor to compare a small set of forages both with and without the machette in hand.

I was just out there last night with a Ranger (Forage at 192 now) and a two-boxed Druid (at 200). In about 3 hours I collected 16 and I hit forage about half as often as I could have. There where two interesting things that I noticed (well three actually but I'm SURE the fact that I got most of the leaves when I was pulling crag spider back to the Druid was purely coincidental). The first thing that I noticed was that I got almost twice as many tea leaves with the Ranger (lower skill) than with the Druid. I know part of it is that I didn't hit the button as often with the Druid but it wasn't THAT less frequent. And second was that I got roughly twice as many leaves as pebbles with the Ranger and the other way around with the Druid. Granted 16 leaves isn't a sizable enough pool of data to draw from but I have another 12 hours of farming I'm expecting to do I'll have a better look at it.

That might actually say something about plain pebbles and tea leaves being on the same forage frequency.

Chances are they are, if for no other reason than it's easier. I just though it was interesting that they where such mirror opposites since it's not something that's seen frequently. Not enough data to say anything about it other than it's interesting. Every little bit of information helps to put the picture together though.

Well, I did the foraging machete quest last night with a friend I've made while foraging in EK. He's given me quite a few tea leaves while he's been working spiders for his tailoring.

I've gotten my foraging up to 119 since the last time I posted, and between merchants, foraging, and someone giving me leaves, I've got 88 leaves now. Only 12 to go and I'm ready for my Qeynos Afternoon Tea run. Was going to stop earlier, but just couldnt' do it. I'm to stubborn.

Honestly, even with the 10% from the machete, I didn't notice any increase in rare forages. However, at a base of 119, I'm not sure how much 10% helps. :P

Anyway, it's been interesting. My druid has leveled from barely into 27 to a couple bubbles into 29. XP has almost dried up in EK at 29, but there are a few things I can kill. hehehe

Good luck foraging everyone! Especially these **** leaves! Not sure after this run if I'll ever make the things again. :P

I hunted in EK to level my druid wayyyy back when. At the time, drink stats were broken. I remember foraging up a TON more tea leaves then than I do now. I think when they fixed stats and added in QAT they dropped the forage rate.

What kills me the most is that I used them to brew Karana Brown Tea to drink, since my guild was a bunch of booze hounds and I wanted to be diffrent.
