Runed Seashell for Tainted Avalanche

This has probably been asked before, but I was wondering if sirens in CS were ever known to drop the Runed Seashell? I know they have drop the EB version, but I wasn't too sure about the cloud version. I was hoping to just solo the sirens in the CS tunnel, but if they only drop in Siren's Grotto, then I would appreciate any kind of confirmation before I bite the bullet and beg my group to hunt there instead of PoV. :P

I found the information that you needed in the wonderful shawl guides that Verdandi wrote for the quests section of http://www.eqtraders.com

The shell that you need only drops off of sirens in Siren's Grotto and has one charge of Enduring Breath. There is a necklace that drops in Cobalt Scar and maybe also in SG that has multiple charges of EB, but it will not work. Likewise there is a shell also called a Runed Sea Shell that drops in CS that has charges of Cloud. That also will not work. You need the item called a Runed Sea Shell that has one charge of Enduring Breath and can only be found in Siren's Grotto. They are not no drop, so buying them might be a good option if you can afford it and cannot get a group sufficient to tackle the sirens in SG.

So, sounds like time to do some begging ... or some shopping.

Denmom, that quote says the Cloudy shells do drop in CS. In my experience, that's not accurate--to the very best of my knowledge (and I've made dozens of TAA's), they only drop in SG.

Though the bazaar is also an excellent place to farm them

Figures... I for the longest time thought it was the one with Cloud. And I just bought that in the bazaar. Oh, well... have to find the other with Enduring Breath.

Still Need the mind melt, but don't want to pay 600 plat for it.

Runed Seashell (1 charge Cloud) = 9th Coldain Ring

Runed Seashell (1 charge Enduring Breath) = 7th Shawl

Krazick, if you need Mind Melt then I assume you are making Avalanche Ale for 9th Ring - if so then you've got the right Runed Seashell (Cloud).

I am after the 9th Coldain Ring for this. The fact that the names are identical is very confusing.

I'm also working on the 9th coldain ring. Unfortunately I misinterpreted some info on the Peffin part and will have to start over with another ale.. but.

It's easier than you might think, I had to hunt the mineral salts in droga and go to kaladim/cauldron to get the quicksilver/suspension, but everything else I bought fairly cheaply in the bazaar. Including the runed sea shell (cloud) which was 10pp I think. Maybe it was 20.

You might want to buy the ingredients for extra attempts at the mind melt, it's success rate is the pits. Avalanche Ale is really easy though.
