  • Tea Leaves drop?

I have spent rather a lot of time in EK lately killing away while foraging for tea leaves. Every HG I see and get to first dies a slow, horrible death rooted, DoT'd and used for target practice from a safe distance. I also kill Theoris Bladespur (who always drops 2 Fine Steel weaposn in addition to the gloves) every time I see him up on track. I spend the rest of my time between spiders and lions, depending on what guildmates need that day. I killed hundreds, possibly thousands of these annoyingly green mobs, and have *yet* to see a tea leaves drop (though if no guildies need the silk, I have made a healthy profit on it). This leaves bandits, druids, gorge houndes, war wolves, black stalkers, spirit stalkers, chasm crawlers, bullnose snakes, gnoll reavers, undead reavers, barbarian fisherfolk...

The point is, has anyone had any luck getting these to drop? Minimizing my time spent in EK would make me a much happier Ranger. It's not too bad when I have the place (and the HG's) to myself, but when it's crowded, I'm much crabbier, both IC and IRL. Down in the Tailoring forum, there seems to be acknowledgement that Seahorse Roe drops primarily from the snakes and spiders on Erud's Crossing, so I'm hoping that there are also particular mobs in EK that would yield me the leaves I seek.

Thanks in advance for your comments and observations,

Ahh, I understand your misconception. Tea leaves are not dropped, they are foraged. So keep hitting your forage button while your hunting in EK and you should start seeing tea leaves.

    Best of luck.

I do the same as you twice a week. Just forage you should walk away with quite a few of them.

        Actually...

Ah, you seem to have mis-conceived my mis-conception. In a recent patch (I searched and searched, but couldn't find the text to quote, I will keep looking), zone-specific forages were added to the drop tables of mobs in that zone. It was theoretically all mobs, but experience seems to have displayed otherwise. As I mentioned, the tailors seem to have isolated the mobs that drop Seahorse Roe (a previously forage-only item) in Erud's Crossing, and I'm hoping we can do the same for mobs that drop Tea Leaves in Eastern Karana. Yes, I'm painfully aware that Tea Leaves can be foraged, and if I stay in EK long enough, I'll forage rather a lot of them. What I would like to do is identify something that I can kill that might potentially drop the Tea Leaves, thereby reducing the total amount of time I need to spend in EK.

Actually, I don't think they made all the foraged items droppable, I believe that it was the items for the new robes that were made droppable......

Obviously the misconception was mine. I had no idea that foraged items, other than morning dew, had also been added to mob drops. Had I understood that I didn’t understand what you were talking about I wouldn’t have posted in the first place.

I thought the only foraged items they added to mob drops were those used in making the new robes (other than morning dew)?

                  Formerly foraged items...

My understanding of the loot changes were that they only applied to ribbon dye components that used to be forage-only and that they were also dropped by mob(s) in the same zone as where they could be foraged. Which means my DE SK will be able to get the Cursed Clover he needs for his ribbon dyes in OT, rather than having to worry about it still being No Drop which would mean a ranger would have to become a master brewer.

So, which zone has mobs that drop Morning Dew and what should I be looking for to supply my WE with the stuff for his mithil working? Foraging in Gfay gets old when most, if not all, the mobs in the zone are green.

Morning dew was added to Lfay drop lists a while back. I hear of people getting it off the brownies and the faeries, but as a rare drop.

                      *sigh*

Well, I guess in the end, I was wrong. Poo. It's good, because it means we foragers still have a leg up on the competition for QAT, but it's bad, because it means I still have to spend an inordinate amount of time in EK. Thanks for all the feedback.

                          Sylvan Berries and Cini Sticks...

Well, the Sylvan Berries fit, since they are used in one of the High Elf cultural robe dyes. Cini Sticks, though, I haven't got a clue for, unless you account for non-foragers who'd like to make Pixie Powdered Cini Sticks.

Thanks for the input on what to hunt for Morning Dew. That means I'll eventually accumulate enough for my WE ranger to do some of his mithril work. At least, I think he'll need it for the mithril parts for his cultural fletching.

Personally, I find it fitting that the brownies have sylvan berries, cinnamon sticks and morning dew in there drop tables now. I mean, after all, they are druids aren't they? And brownies of fairy tales have always been known to be packrats of sorts, trying to get their grubby little fingers on anything of value.
