  • Was brewing made more difficult along with pottery?

My druid is my main trade skill character. He’s trying to GM baking, but he’s also trying to get all his other trade skills to 200. He made it to 200 brewing using Minotaur Hero's Brew. It was a pain in the wrist, but over all it wasn’t too bad. I’ve started a shaman who I want to GM brewing. I got to 188 doing Faydwer shakers and then started making Minotaur Brew. It seems much harder this time around. It took about 80 combines to get to 189 and another 80 combines to get to 190. Eighty combines later and I still haven’t hit 191. My wisdom, with KEI, is about 225. This is about the same wisdom my druid had when he was making the brew months ago and I don’t remember it taking so many combines per point.

Am I just having a bad run, or is this to be expected for every point up to 248?

    Short Answer: No.

Long Answer: As a person who has gotten 2 characters to 250 brewing, I can tell you that every point of wisdom will help. Also, even with semi-decent WIS (not quite 170), it may take 543 combines or possibly more to get a skill up. Luckily for you, you haven't hit any 100+ combine runs without a skill up. In the period between 190 and 225 is generally where I had the most trouble with brewing.

    My suggestions:
    (1) Do not despair, for the pride of having a 250 tradeskill is worth it!
    (2) ***DO*** find a very comfortable position to sit and rest your arm and wrist while brewing... if you feel any discomfort, then STOP, and come back in a few minutes or hours or the next day.
    (3) Get some really good upbeat music to listen to while you brew. A good steady rhythm and some entertainment will make the journey more fun!

The best of luck to you, and please reply with any updates, comments, or questions!

No - brewing wasn't "fixed" with the others - my troll made very steady skill up progress while making jumjum bear for MTPs without issue.

The problem that you're seeing is that you're in the hell levels again - from 185+ to about 210ish you can expect 100+ combines per skill point - I've witnessed this with fletching, baking and JC.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I must have lucked out with my druid. I made it to 200 without much difficulty, at least not like I’m having now. I guess I’ll have to do as Healblade suggested and just get as comfortable as possible and keep clicking those combines until I reach 248.
