Well, if you have PoP, there's a vendor in PoK that sells Fishing Grubs (and if you Forage, that's even better, since you'll sometimes forage those). Buy those and an equal amount of water flasks and combine in a brew barrel to make Fetid Essence, which trivials at 122 or close to it.

No clue after that, or what to do if you don't have PoP, though.

Skull ale to 151 (Fetid Essence is good if you have PoP)
      Faydwer Shakers to 188
      Minotaur Hero Brews to 200

All store bought except the skull for the ale which can usually be found in the Bazaar. If not it's a fairly short camp to get one in South Karana.

You might check the vendors in Shadeweaver's Thicket for Payala Fruit. If you can find a lot you can do Shar Vahl Essence to 187 but it's unlikely that you will want to collect them yourself.

The vendor selling the Fishing Grubs in Plane's of Knowledge is Caden Zharik, loc -344, 769.

Can confirm that Fetid essense trivials at exactly 122.

Having just done this again on another character, who hopes to take brewing to 250, I agree with Cattywumpus. I did Fetid Essence to 122. Then I did Skull Ale, followed by Faydwer Shakers. Now I’m doing Minotaur Hero Brew and groaning over the 100+ combines at 192.

If you have PoP, the gnome vendor selling the grubs is standing on a porch across from the entrance to the “evil” section of the zone. If you don’t have PoP, I’ve read that you can buy fishing grubs from the cat people on Kerra Isle, just off of Toxxulia Forest. However, I have not verified it personally.

If you go after the undead Cyclops in South Karana for his skull, be aware that he cannot be snared or rooted. At least my level 51 druid could not do so after several tries and the Cyclops was green to him. I ended up blasting him to death, or is that redeath, and was done with it.

And about the best place to make Minotaur Brew is in Halas. Everything you need is on two vendors in the same room, one on either side of the brew barrel. If they stood just a bit closer together you wouldn’t even have to take a step.

            Best of luck.

You might be able to "move" the vendors closer with a FD class.

They may reset to their spawn locations, or they might stay where you put them.

If you aren't welcome in halas for some reason (being a dark elf myself), you can also do mino hero brews in Highold Pass fairly easy. Only have to leave the building for water. Same building for faydwer shakers as well.

Please don't try to move the vendors. A vendor more than a few feet off its spot won't sell to anyone, instead saying something like, "Go away, can't you see I'm busy right now?"

I imagine they implemented this to stop people moving vendors for convenience.

If you want to increase it for little money there is the Shar Vahl Essence method. Just pickup the Papayas that are ground spawn in Shadeweavers. I know of ten trees that have the spawned fruit. Combine with Water. You can actually make a profit in the store selling them, as they sell for way more than the price of water :P

Except that they are called Payala not Papayas. Only reason I brought it up is that I went looking for Papayas on the recipe board and spent 5 minutes wondering why I cold find it until I remebered they where CLOSE to that in name.

Thanks for the idea tough, I LIKE it and I'll be using it. Probably sell the essances on my mule for 5g or 1p too.

OH, for those wondering what the trivail is (like I was) it's 187.

At what level is a good time to start making the Shar Val Essence if it trivials at 187?

Considering the only thing Vah Shir essence costs is time and a flask of water you can do it at any time but I myself would wait till double brewed double stout dwarven ale was trivial or skill ups will come at a very dissapointing rate.

I did this just last week. There's a post here on the first page that's

                              "0 to 188 (and now 250)"

It's the cheapest way I could do it, and got to 200 for under 150 plat (counting 2 KEI's). If your INT/WIS are near 255 already, then you can get to 200 brewing for 60'ish pp total!
