    Ok Mastered Brewing (101)

Ok this is not a fun tradeskill to skill up on with only 90 wis.
Just to let ya know. That what i was for pottery as well and it flew. I stoped counting because I was getting maybe 1 level per 20 combines.
Ok any ways here is what I did.

    0-101 brewing
1020 combines on the fettid essence.\

Fishing grub+ flask of water=fettid essence (in a cask)

Went to Kerra Isle (off of Tox not the Island in Erudes Crossing)

    Purchased 22 stacks of grubs
    combined in Shadowhaven

Had to go back to Kerra to get more grubs
    34 more stacks later
    101 in brewing.
I suggest only going this route if yer really broke. or Don't wan't to do the extra clicking to make other items. Or you have a wis or int higher than 150
(but I think I would have done less clicking on using other lower triv combines first.)

Maybe go Soda water then Ale then the fettid essence.

Need to go back to kerra again to get more grubs to get all the way to 122 then probbaly on to skull ale.

Retired from EQ on or around Septemeber 06.

    Harp's gear

PS. Molto Has retired. EQ2 has lured core group away.

I quit the game I loved because it wasn't anymore. Guilds allowing farmers in because they could do a lot of damage in raids.
SoE not really doing anything about farmers, macroquesters ect.
Still Some of my favorite times spent online happened in Norath. The friends and mobs I remember fondly.

PoK has at least one vendor who has an infinate supply of fishing grubs.

Listed on the trade skill supply page.

      Brewing 101

Least expensive way to get up to 187 in Brewing was discussed in a thread on the old board:

Payala Fruit plus Flask of Water = Essence of Shar Vahl

      http://pub147.ezboard.com/feqtraderscornerbrewing.showMessage?topicID=1287.t opic

You get Payala Fruit underneath the the blue leaf trees in Shadeweavers Thicket (near the kitty merchants and bank), they are a ground spawn.

        I tried doing Payala fruit...

Spent 20-30 minutes , gathered 20 fruit, and got 1 or 2 skillups from 127-130.

I could have spent that Time doing Jum Jum Beer, or Faydwar Shakers, or Skull Ale, and saved myself running around Sharvahl.

Now, after Jum Jum trivials, maybe.....

foraged stuff take WAY too long to gather, the grub/essence route is quick and cheap. I don'tt think you need a cask, just the grub and flask of water.

2 items, both can be vendor bought, and trivial at 122.

i've been slowly collecting grubs from everywhere. when i get a stack i do the combines before banking for the night.

brewing is a secondary TS for me, so i haven't gone balls to the walls working on it, but i'm up to 110

Take a look at this post from the rants section about the horrors of Heady Kiolas for tailoring

            http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=173

My own suggestion would be to load a character with a few bag fulls and sell them in the bazaar at a reasonable price. You should easily be able to raise enough for some cheap wisdom gear to use just for tradeskills.

You should also consider making and selling the soda water's in the Bazaar...as a GM brewer who hates subcombines, I'd love you forever

                Shar Vahl Essence

Spent 20-30 minutes , gathered 20 fruit, and got 1 or 2 skillups from 127-130.
The Shar Vahl Essence route is actually very easy; after making the rounds in Shadeweaver's Thicket I was able to do the above much faster than that. However, at your level I'd do Skull Ale (or Fetid Essence if it's not trivial yet).

There are 11 Payala Fruit ground spawn locations near the bank and the high elf Elefan, or whatever his name is, and another 12 or so over by the Loda Kai camp across from the Shar Vahl Zone. These always spawn in the same places and are on a fairly fast timer (ten minutes or less).

With RS3, I could get a stack in a few minutes, then gate back to PoK, buy a stack of water and brew, then run to the Shar Vahl stone and be back in Shadeweaver's in just a tad over ten minutes. The nice thing about this method (IMO, at least) is that you can do it when you have a little bit of down time between other things, and it doesn't require lots of slots being open in your inventory, unlike Minotaur Hero Brews.

Anyway, I did Shar Vahl Essence from 160 or so (after Skull Ale trivialed and a few combines of MHB or Shakers afterwards) up to its trivial, and found it to be a very good method to raise brewing, at least for me. I'd definitely wait until Fetid Essence and/or Skull Ale trivials before trying it, though, and if you don't have PoP it's not much of an option.

Heres how i went from 0 to like 121, still going to do Skull Ale to 151. Did it all in PoK besides skull ale, did that in Neriak.

                  1-26 Malted Milk
                  26-41 Mead
                  41-68 Ale
68-121 Skull ale, going on this to 151

Guys need some help what to do to like 180-190 from 151, want to get my GM tropy at level 21 as a twink Whatever your advice ends me at if its 180-200 then I'll start Minotaur Hero's Brew.

Do Faydwer Shakers to 188. Easy and pretty cheap. I did it in Freeport as you can find all the ingredients there for it along with the brew barrel.

Went up 55 skill points in 4 hours doing this.

                      Cyclops skull

Sorry for the ignorant question, but a cyclops skull is dropped whereabouts? Cyclops in Rathe come to mind, or SRO.

EDIT: undead cyclops in South Karana. When in doubt, I should read the FAQ!

I love doing trade skills. So if I can easily get to a certain level in a trade skill, I’ll have all my characters do so. Baking is a good example. All my characters will have 191 in baking before much longer. With brewing, all my characters will have at least 122 skill. If you have Planes of Power its incredibly cheap and easy.

There is a little gnome guy standing outside a building in the center section of the Plane of Knowledge atop some wooden stairs, directly across from the “evil” section of the zone. He sells fishing grubs for 2 or 3 coppers each. A lady standing around the corner sells flasks of water. Buy several stacks of each and head to the brew barrel. One grub and water makes the fetid essence. Selling the essence will make back some of the money you spent, but even without that its so cheap only a brand new player could have any problem affording the supplies.

I may at some point take all my characters to 200 brewing, as it goes so well with their baking, but getting to 122 is so quick and cheap there’s no reason not to do it if you have any interest in brewing at all.

Actually Paypya fruit falls from Paypya trees and there are many in Shadeweavers Thicket.

They are the trees with the bright blue leaves. Just look at the base of the tree for the fruit.

I have found a few with no fruit but 90% have them. I can just run around collecting them as they respawn too fast.

I'm working it via this route. I went from 1 to 15 doing bog juice for the soulfire quest few years ago. Went from 15 to 142 doing 2X Brewed 2X Stout Dwarven Ale...this took about 2 hours, 500ish combines..cost was no more than 60pp.
