  • Quinine?

Ok all you TS junkies... where can I get Quinine for the new brewing drinks? Anyone know? Is it player made? Is it vendor bought? Is it a drop? Mind you I just ran through ALL of the vendors in Abysmal Sea, yes even the 2 gardeners, and still no Quinine. =(

I have never heard of it before. That is not to say it does not exist.

What recipe do you need it in?

What new recipes are you referring to?

        Re: Quinine?

Per the patch notes for today it says...

        - Fabled Adventurer Drinks: Criers around the world are carrying news of a new pair of drinks honoring the fabled adventurers.

So, being a wood elf, I ran to Kelethin and sure enough on the Town Crier there was a new book called, Nostrum News. In it, is a recipe for 2 new drinks. Both drinks require quinine. So any information anyone has on this, is greatly appreciated.

ps - Quinine was added to Allah's item search, as it must have shown up in LUCY, but no information on where it comes from is listed.

In RL, Quinine is extracted from tree bark. There may be recipes now for some of the barks on the alchemy vendors - I'll poke around, and hope you do too. =)

Well after seeing Syuni's post I looked up Quinine on Wikipedia. It was made from Cichona bark which was dried, then ground into a fine powder, and mixed with wine.

So I would GUESS the following:

Smoker + Cichona bark (or other bark if there is no new bark) in a oven. To get something like Dried Cichona Bark.

Dried Cichona Bark in a Mortar and Pestle. To get Powdered Cichona Bark.

Powered Cichona Bark + Wine in a brew barrel. To get Quinine.

As mentioned above, true quinine is a bark extract.

I've been playing with variations of the alchemy katuka barks, as well as oak bark and sop bark, using various liquids as solvents. No luck yet.

C'mon now, fancy new brewing recipes certainly will have subcombines

Maybe it drops off a tree hugger. Go kill some wood elves.

Quinine was posted on EQPlayers a while ago, so I did not stick it in the note because there was not room on the note. (I think)

so... are there any plans on making ac or attack on a drink/food actually provide a gain in ac / attack?

Sounds like they didn't code it so drinks could have those. Probably limited to the hp/mana/end/resists/stats only. It was a nice try though!

would be nice if they can get the coding fixed cause I know alot of people like the fact that there is ac on it that more then anything. Attack is nice but think people rather have the ac.
