I am probably about to open a can of worms here and have a whole bunch of people point out things in the game to me, But....

Dont you think it would be better to keep 'real world' things in the real world, and have our fantasy world just a little more 'fantasy'.

Yes, blah blah, but wine is in the game and in my kitchen etc etc.... blah blah.....

Wouldnt you much rather have your character drinking some lovely Minotaur Hero's Brew', 'Faydwer Stinger', Gruppas Fizzly-Poppin Ale' or my personal fave, a tall foamy 'Jumjum Spiced Beer'!!!!

      I agree and disagree Pootle

      High fantasy drinks are great.

I agree that Vodka is a bit out of place...

But Wine is very "period" and Rum at least fit in Pirates, even if it is not quite period.

Ale, Beer and Mead is absolutely period.

So some things have just been around forever

I also agree that I do not like being too "current." I don't quite like naming something tequila. But...

I might call Tequila "Cactus Zinger" or some such and the Sunrise... "Zinger Sunrise" and have it be basically the same thing

If we have 'Cactus Zinger' and Limes and Coarse Salt and Ice, that smells a lot like Margaritas!

            Some relevant date ranges:

Medieval times : generally from around 5th century to 1400ish.

Wine : as early as 6000 BC

            Beer/Ale : as early as 3500 BC

            Vodka : Around 1400

Tequila : The Aztecs had a precursor that existed well before 1500. Around 1600, it became a mass-produced commodity.

            Rum : Around 1600.

So, time-wise, rum is the most out of place (pirate age excluded...as they are generally very non-period with the rest of the game,) with Vodka and Tequila being iffy, and wine and beer being old hat.

I'm pretty sure the Aztecs didn't have distillation, without which all you have is fermented cactus pulp....

Yeah...tequila. Yeah...that is EXACTLY what we need.

                "Raid cancelled."

                "Why?"

"Enchanters got into the tequila again."

"That would explain the awful mess in the guild hot tub."

Heh. I have an item that can MGB beer (or more accurately, has a click effect that casts an AE summon spell, like mod rods, that puts a stack of booze on the cursor of everyone nearby -- but it's much easier to say it can MGB beer ). I like to click it when we're forming in Dreadspire, getting ready to fight in Demi. It's hilarious to see the injudicious tanks weaving and winding all over the place, trying to get aggro on the incoming mobs without falling over the edge. I always warn the raid, "Don't get drunk!" And wouldn't you know it, every time, there's someone in the raid who slams down the entire stack in like ten seconds, then demands more because their alcohol tolerance isn't maxed yet.

How Tequila is made. I am sure from this you might be able to come up with some recipe that might match our Norrathian world ingredients.

It can be done, slipping a Tequilla style drink in the game with strong drunk effect. Ngreth did slip in various pizza style recipes back with the release of PoR.

The cactus pieces and juices sold in the EC tunnel by a certain shady merchant fermented in a clay jar might well make some pulque which could be distilled into a tequila like beverage.

Now of course if I were writing the recipe it'd be an iksar or ogre version.
8 pickled Cactus fruits/pods/pieces (Pickled parts = 4 parts and jar of vinegar)
Then mash em into a vase wif yer foot. Watch out you take out dem torns first.
Den let it ferment like boot beer. When foam over top it ready to distill.
Put bucket of fermented pickled cactus juice into distillery and catch drippings in cask.
To test if strong enough drop grub (fishing) into cask. If grub swims and burps it not strong enough. If grub come up for air and go down to bottom three times it good nuff. If grub melt sell to gnomes as paint remover.
(basically make the pickled juice in a jug. then get x amount of jugs into a brewing barrel along with a cask Get cask back (full) with x number of empty jugs back (like when you get bottles back) Then take cask and a fishing grub and combine in brew barrel again. If you make final brewing check it's the good stuff. Fail and it's sout fruit juice with a worm in it or paint stripper...
Mix that paint stripper with gnomish cleanin paste and you got a nice explosive or the best armor paint and stain remover and cleaner ever...ware the flames...

Be nice if it's capable of FD effect. interplanar brain blaster requires many hard to get stuff and the FD effect is only for look, not for clearing aggro so not game breaking.

One bottle of tequilla like drink may not be enough but extra large botle or cask (2 or 4 bottles + cask in brew barrel) would cause player to drop dead drunk.

Why bother with pickling, Brodder? Makes it taste nasty.

2 Cactus parts + Yeast + Water = Cactus Zinger (Tequilla)

                            Simple as that.

Then, if ya want the good stuff...
