    I made some http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_...17148&menustr=
whose FD effect is really cool and could be useful.
are there some others brewing recipes with effects that cool ?

  • #2
Cool, yes but useless. I have tried it once when my guild was facing imminet wipe. The mob still ate me in a hurry. Maybe the aggro clearing FD part only works when the drink is used by FD capable classes like monk, necro, and SK.

I did brew up quite a few just for kicks since I seems to be finding lots of kirin horns on vendors around. I have 7 left at this moment.

it is not intended to be a real Feign Death. It just gives you the "animation"

As Ngreth stated, it's only to give teh "falling down" animation...as in...the drink is sooo strong you immediately fall down drunk, hehe

This was intended, as per posts in the past by either Tanker or Maddoc, I foget which one, when this drink was first discovered.

You're passing out from the incredibly high alcohol content in the drink, that's why you look like you're dead

I have an objection to the effect being called Feign Death if the item doesn't actually work as advertised. Use "Dead Drunk" or some other name that wont cause Ms. Grundy to throw up her arms in alarm.

                  Blood Ember Greaves
                  Coterie Mask of the Dead
                  Crimson Ring of Desinence
                  Vermilion Sky Ring

All have the effect of Feign Death. All clear aggro/remove you from hate list. I spent a lot of time to get my brewing up because the effect says feign death and was very disappointed to find I had wasted my time and plat for an effect that did not enhance my ability to get things done.

With all the items that can summon drink for free and all the drinks the sell for silvers, I have a hard time believing the "plat" aspect of the arguement. Also there are times in game where having a good alcohol tolerance is a good thing, so just think if it as getting prepared ahead of time.

Also, the game does not indicate anywhere that the effect of Inibrification = Feign Death. You probably read an external sources (such as Lucy or Allahkazam's) and saw something like the "3. Feign Death" (being the graphic effect). It would be a good idea to research and discover what it means before making an assumption that will waste your "time and plat" if your play time and money are limited to the point where doing so has a significance.

                      Gorse has it correct.

SOE is not responsible for extrnal sites the "parse" the files and get it wrong.

No-where in game, nor even on EQPlayers does it say it is feign death. On eqplayers it states the following for the Inebrification effect.

Description: The best drink in Norrath.

                      Category: Magical Skill:

The data telling you what this effect does is all there on Lucy, but they withheld an important variable on the main screen that you can only see if you look at the raw data.
There are 2 (or more, but this time only 2) variables at work. First, the number that means feign death. This number is 74, and you can see it on the raw page under attrib3. Attrib1 is 21(stun), and atrib2 is 160(drunk). But if you look, you will see that Lucy knows that the stun is for 6 seconds, and the drunk effect only hits you if your alcohol tolerance is under 1000. That data is included in base1=6000(extra data for attrib1), and base2=1000(extra data for attrib2). If you look further at the value for base3(extra data for attrib3), you find that it is 1.
Now, comparing the the spell Feign Death(13% of failure) that is on the items you listed, you will see that attrib1=74, and base1 is 87. If you compare to the upgraded level 60 spell Death Peace (2% chance of failure), you find that attrib1=74 still, but base1 is now 98. So Inebrification has a 1% chance of successfully making you feign death.

BTW, all of these variable names and effect names (attrib1, base1, feign death) were given by players, not SOE. Look at the spells_us.txt file in your Everquest directory and search for Inebrification and you won't find the words feign death anywhere in its spell description.

It may just be for fun, but these things sell well (300-500 pp each) and at triv 311 add up on my trophey. Selling 20 a week, sure I could do more if I had a better supply of olives.

The reason they sell well is because people think they are really getting FD.

No need to disabuse of them of that notion, now, is there?

Brewers may be a dime a dozen, but dedicated brewers willing to search out the bits and pieces for rare and interesting beverages and whatnot deserve a chance to reap the rewards of their industry. I make the stuff; I put in in the bag; I put a price on it. I make no claims as to the efficacy of my product. If the buyer thinks it's worth what I price it out for, everybody wins. If it doesn't work the way they expect it to, they either buy another and try again or decide it's not worth it. After a month or two of everyone deciding it's not worth what I'm charging, I'll charge less and give them a chance to re-evaluate.
