Another odd recipe

I've been looking into this myself, and just today found yet another recipe listed in the UI.

Name: Mossmatt Mead
Trivial: 268 Brewing
Ingredients: cask, hops, malt, yeast, The Rivervale Voice Vol. 9 No. 3 (x2)

I first thought it was called mossmalt mead but noticed its spelling while transcribing it for here.

If fish fungus wine takes No. 2, and mossmatt mead takes No. 3, I think it'd make more sense to have the trivials ascend in order. But oh well, I'm off to gukta to try my hand at brewing to make a book. It's still real odd to me procedurally, though i understood the connection between fish and newspaper. To me the odd part is getting a book as a result.

I just finished the Outpost one before I came to check up on things here. It seems odd that it returns another volume of the newspaper instead of a wine, but it's a quick and easy skillup path for any brewer out there, regardless of the result

It has been partially nerfed, at least, on 7/13/05. Searching in the tradeskill UI window doesn't show the recipe, even though I had placed them in favorites.

I don't know if the recipes are still valid (though I'd assume so), if they're learnable in the UI, or if they are 'quest recipes' that aren't learnable but have to be repeated the old way in experiment mode.

The reason you can not find the correct paper is because the entire war is on a script. As the script progresses new news of events going on about the war are added increasing the number of the paper (vol. 9 no. XXX). Every time a new event happens and passes a new number comes out. Obviously from posts above we see at least 9 events will pass and 9 different versions of the paper will be released. In order to catch the proper number needed you need to be at a certain point in the war on your server, for example as of today Cazic was on number 4, though I doubt that it will be at 4 much longer after the events that transpired yesterday.

Brewing seems to produce a different number of the paper which seems to give players an advanced look at the war script, this may be intended it may not. Either way that is the reason that you can not find certain numbers.

Right now, No. 6 is live.

The Paineel Register Vol. 9 No. 6 is now free at the paineel town crier. Friday was No. 4, saturday and sunday was No. 5, and today (Monday) is No. 6. If trends coninue, I expect it to only be available today, unless it is reprinted and resold on the criers upon next volume.

Now that I read paineel trade supplies (from handy link at top of this page), I find that barley and malt aren't sold in Paineel. Thank Solusek for ports!

Hmm, okay I put 5 of the Paineel Vol9No6, water flask, barley, malt, and cask in brew barrel in PoK, and it DNC. Gating to Paineel.. tried same, DNC. This is all in experiment mode of course, because they removed the recipe from the UI. I'm suspecting a full on nerf. Try again with all quantities of newspapers in it, from 0 to 6 plus other 4 parts, DNC. Try with 5 news and 1 extra of each of the other four, DNC. Try taking away one of each of the other 4, still DNC.

Bah, I think that somewhere in 7/13 patch, Sony noticed our keen interest, and even cunning use of the Outpost recipe for skill. Maybe it was a mistake to be included in the first place. If anyone finds successful results in time, please post.

I didn't try them out. I'm not exactly welcome in Paineel, and if the other paper is from the outpost in OT, I'm not welcome there either.

Blindfish Pale Ale, Fish Fungus Wine, and Mossmatt Mead all sound like they're made out of ingredients found in a cave. My guess would be that some Depths of Darkhollow recipes accidentally made it live before they were ready...

I have a feeling that the recipes for the new expansion were already in there, as everyone knows items have an ID#, so when they put in some stuff for the war they accidentally used the ID numbers for expansion items that weren't in game yet, but the recipes were, so the database tables were probably off somewhere.

For example, say the blind fish pale ale called for 3 blind fish (or whatever), ID #58000 (just pulled that number out of the air), then they throw in the different news papers and those just happen to go in the same ID #, this can cause the mess up as we see here.
