  • Those last two pesky points

I posted this on the SOE forums earlier, and it should probably be here as well:

Okay, I will let you in on a secret but dont tell anyone because this hasn't become common knowledge yet.

Stonewood Root is foraged in OOW, and so far sells for 1gp-5pp in the bazaar. It's used to make a 255 trivial brew thats also a ghetto sow potion (seems bugged and doesnt work atm, grats soe)
Brewing Components: barley, bottle, cork, malt, Stonewood Root, water flask, yeast
In: brew barrel, tanaan brew barrel
    Yield: 1
    On Failure Returns: cork, bottle
    Trivial at: 255

All the other items are cheap, and sold in PoK or AS. So for like 100pp at most you can get those last two points and a new title. This is almost totally unknown so far but once it makes it onto rpgexpert or the eqtraders FAQ you can expect the price of the roots to skyrocket, and youll see them at 100pp ea.

Well,, you obviously found the recipe here.. which means it is known.... Please don't come in here talking down to us when the information is there for anyone to see anytime they look. It's been known for quite a while.

      Elyssanda, that was unnecessary.

I am sure that the poster did not intend to offend, and I for one did not see the OP as condescending (talking down to us.) Nor is he claiming that he invented the recipe.

Like many others who post here, he is sharing a tip on a skillup route for, as he puts it, "those last two pesky points" in Brewing from 248-250. Moreover, on one that is cheap at the moment due to low bazaar prices, but that will probably become less so as it becomes widely known and people start jacking up the prices.

Whether others may already know about this recipe or not is irrelevant. Look in the Guides forum, plenty of people write guides that are almost identical. They used info from EQTC to construct those guides, does that make them any less valid? No. They are sharing what worked for them, no one is obliged to follow those guides but it saves them the trouble of devising a skillup path of their own if they don't want to go to the trouble of researching all the variables.

The problem with posting on a message board is that very often the written word is inadequate and subject to misinterpretation, in terms of a poster's intentions and attitude. What one reader sees as offensive may be completely inoffensive to another, yet both are reading the same words. The difference is in how the readers perceive what is written.

Before you post next time, re-read the OP and ask yourself...is it truly offensive or am I just perceiving it that way? And when in doubt, give the poster the benefit of the doubt.

Warning to subsequent posters: No flames of the OP or Elyssandra please, it will not be tolerated.

I have OOW but haven't really played there yet. Could a 57 druid find a place to forage safely? I mean sitting at the keyboard and reading safely, not necessarily walking away. Is there any particular zone that is best for getting this forage?

Brewing will be my next AA and I really like to plan ahead

As per the source info on EQTC:

          This item is Foraged:
          - Dranik's Scar
          - Harbinger's Spire
          - Noble's Causeway
          - Ruins of Dranik
          - Sewers of Dranik
          - The Bloodfields
          - Wall of Slaughter

Some of those zones are level-restricted, but Dranik's Scar was the zone intended for the 40-50 crowd, I believe.

I'd say that any zone would certainly have some safe spots for attended foraging, because you can find a spot, camo, and forage away. And while at the keyboard you can re-invis as necessary and avoid dangers if something wanders close by.

Unattended foraging is against the EULA of course, so we won't talk about that.

Well there is attention and then there is attention I know if there is a really good movie on, I could be dead before I ever even noticed I was getting hit

But as long as invis works then I should be fine. Thanks for the info!

Any zone wall is safe in almost every oow outdoor zone. It would take some bad training to get nailed, really really bad. DS, NC, Bloodfields, WOS, and RCOD are all easy to afk safely in.

The post was copy and pasted from the SOE Forums, in answer to a specific question about how to get those last two points. There was no reason to get upset about. Its a question that comes up all the time, and though I did the research and found the recipe listed here I dont think it has been given the notoriety it deserves in comparison to the other 248+ recipes, unless you like spending thousands of plat to get 2 points of skill

You're right Maevenniia. I'm sorry. I was upset after reading an article at yahoo about IGE and how they think farming for PP to sell is ok and shouldn't have come here and posted at that time.

Nadanog, I appologize. You were only trying to help.

Dranik's Scar is the most obvious "safe" choice. Climb high up on a wall to the south of the PoDs (much more likely to have trains from the north), invis, and forage away. Even if invis drops, you'll still be relatively safe, but not safe enough to go do the dishes, clean out your sock drawer, etc.

In Nobles Causeway, you can levitate, turn the corner as soon as you exit the tunnel, and make your way over to the 3rd stone outcropping (not the natual landscape, but the grey strcuture) above the gulley. The outcropping is very safe, and somone would have to purposely train you in order for anything to get to you here (never underestimate how nasty people can be).

Having said all that, only dilligence on your part will ensure safe foraging in any OOW zone.
