Arrrgh skill ups

Ive recently been doing HMP's from 202, and have found it to be very low skill up rate, in 200 combines I have gained 6 skill pts, I wondering if its me or is this very very low, anyone know why?

Once you hit 180-200, all tradeskill skillups drop in frequency.

When going from 1-50 takes about 100-150 combines.. do you really expect it to stay that way all the way to 250?

Get your int/wis/dex/str/whatever as high as possible and deal with an ***average*** of 1 skillup every 20 to 40 combines.

Hehe, I would love to be able to get a skill point after just 40 combines. Right now it's closer to 60-80 for a single point. Makes those tradeskill nights very long indeed.

in 200 combines I have gained 6 skill pts,

i average about 1-2 skillups per 100 combines... you are doin good... tradeskills get **** slow past 200

i've noticed MTPs and Mino hero brews seem to have an exorbinatly low check rate. May be to compensate for the ease of getting the materials.

The RNG has been really nice to me then. I averaged a skill up every 16 combines on my run from 219 - 226. And since I've started making HMP's at 192 ( I think thats when ) I've been averaging a skill up every 20 combines.

Ack not feeling lucky

I have a 188 skill in baking so all the sub-combines for Halas Meat Pies are trivial. After several hours I got enough parts to do 60 combines. With a Wis and Int over 180, I got 0 skill points and about 280 pies.

IMO, the best way to get skillups is to not worry about getting skillups. My first 140 combines at 191, I got no skillups. (20 MTP's I had been given all the ingredients for - someone was celebrating GMery, and then 3 rounds of 2 stacks of HM combines). I then decided that I was going to not worry about skillups and I would only do HMPs when I had sufficient space in my 2 trader's satchels to hold the results, and then do it just for the profit (On The Rathe, I can't keep them in stock at 4pp per, which nets about 500pp profit per 2 stacks of combines). Well, the next 3 rounds of 2 stacks of combines I've done, I got 7 skillups. So I figure as long as I do it to make money rather than to skill up, I'm set

Exactly.. I baked for profit. Sure the skill up's were nice but I was also clicking for cash as I went. If I did 100 MTP's and only got 2-3 skill up's then it wasn't the end of the world. I'd just have to settle for the profit I made...oh darn.

I did 80 combines of HMP and only got 1 skill up hehe (191 to 192)

i currently sit at 248 in baking... havent had time to finsh off my baking skill...

from what i have seen the stretch from 191-219 is the hardest part... i averaged 80-150 combines per 1 skillup... and from 219-248 where i am now i was getting something like 30-50 combines per skillup... much faster...

I don't think those last 2 points will be all that bad either if bad at all. So far in my experience after GMing Brewing and Baking once I got to 248 in each skill it took less than or about a stack of combines to hit 250.

I really wish I could get over the hill with Fletching. :/

I grandmastered baking with

1. Fish Rolls
2. Patty Melts
3. Ohabah Truffles
4. Justice Fruit Pies / Misty Thicket Picnicks


You get pretty good skillup on the Justice Fruit Pie, and it's a very easy combine.

1 Muffin Tin (returned, smithing)
1 Justice Fruit (foraged in Plane of Justice)
1 Frosting (vendor bought)
1 Clump of Dough (baking)
2 Celestial Essence

Can be combined in Tanaan oven, or like I did, in a Collapsible Spit, wich you can carry around and do combines while meeding or farming etc.


Edit: Oh, my wisdom was at 280 when I skilled up.

Mephit Sandwich

Mephit Sandwiches are very easy for skill-ups - if you can get the meat. Dressing, loaf of bread, mephit meat. Trivial overr 250.

I solo charm kite the nightmare mephits and get a good amount of mephit meats.
