  • Hello, new baker in town...with a question lol

Hello, I am a new baker in toen. Had to get baking to around 130 for the shawl quest, decided what the heck I'll keep going. I started making cheese soup to 191 and realized I could make patty melts in Thurgadin...so, now that I am at 190..what to do next. I have read all the posts...and it seems that some think anaconda meat would be the cheapest way to go....but I am a roleplayer...so, being a cleric, I want to get to 242 by making Holy Cakes. I figure killing browmiers will exact revenge for my younger days anyway lol. now the question.....

I have looked up how to make celestial essence a celestial solvent + "a high research" component. I looked up the list of research components that work for this combine..all easy enough drops in various places. But can a cleric actually DO any of these combines? or do I have to be an enchanter to do the combines with the Nitilum's pages..a wizzy for the runes...ect?

OK I am starting to think Anaconda patty melts would be easier

    any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

Celestial essence is a no-fail combine in a mortar and pestle, and anyone can do the combine. The easiest way to get the components is to just buy them, instead of gathering various research components. Scent of Marr is one of the usable research components, and it is sold in unlimited quantites in the Plane of Knowledge.

as a cleric you're probably doing a lot of looting anyway, so find yourself a mortar & pestle and keep a couple stacks of celestial solvent on you, and combine as you loot. I'm gradually equipping every character with collapsible mortar & pestle so they don't all have to learn how to juggle. Once a character is in her mid-30's, the looted research items will start to combine with the essences. by the time you're in your late 40's, nearly all of them will work.

Be sure you warn your group you are doing this with what you loot in case they are after certain items for their spell research. i blithely combined necro pet words and sent our poor necro into caniptions ><

and yes, if you can, spend some time hunting the creatures that drop the pieces you'll need i had a good time solo in jaggedpine in my mid-50's with my baking druid, hunting griffons and anacondas and baking up a storm!

two good place to go since your a dwarf is in steamfont and lesserfaydark. steamfont in front of mino cave area when you kill basically everthing in that area mountain brownies will spawn. lots of running around and killing elementals too. you can loot swirling mist and drop of mercury while doing brownie parts. and few low end gems. find which loot u can sell and which arent needed. when you get bored or tired with that head over to lesser faydark at brownie camp. spawn rate is around 20min ish. dont kill the merchant they dont have anything. brownie farmer has parts, brownies, and brownie guards carry parts.
        hope this helps.

ps. for celestial essence head to PoK at poison shop (dark elves upstairs nexxt to barbarian shop *alchemy*) and buy all the scent of marrs you want. then head to shadow haven to buy some celestial solevent or elsewhere thats near you) (i however can not find any celestial solvent in PoK ) (Do get a collaspable mortar/pestle and mixing bowl and oven. it will help make things convient)

If you go straight downstairs from where you bought the scent of marr, one of the guys standing in the booth in that building sells celestial solvent. (Darius Gandril (52, 1530) per the main recipes page).

Wow, great information here!! I love message boards!! lol Anyway, I will go to PoK and check out the merchants for the celestial essence ingrediants, then to Lfay or Steam for Revenge errr I mean Brownie Parts.

When I get a good rythm going, and find out the ease with which this path takes me, I will post with my results. :?

            Thanks again everyone.

lol i am one of the worse vender shopper/farmer around. i've been to that guy sooooo many times. dang i overlooked it then lol. going to visit him again tonight. i found out holy cakes are way fun sells somewhat reasonable to vender (8pp ish a stack at 160 charisma in Shadow Haven and Halas with max factions). it cost around 80pp ish for the herb (stack) and 4pp ish (3 celestial-3solvent). each combine is around 8-9pp ish and yleids 6. herb is 4pp ish/3celes3pp ish/3solv3goldish round up around
8-9pp per combine. (not counting dough since i assume most bakers have tons of eggs in bank) just making the celestial essence is slow. hope this helps. also would like input if anyone went this route. doing too many mtp and hmp gets a lil boring sometimes. holy cake is fun.

The steamfont brownies are on some kind of really long spawn timer, or are triggered someway I have not figured out yet. I went to LFay, and I can solo the Brownie gaurds as a 54 cleric with KEI lol Takes a while, but once I get past the guards, the brownies inside are no match. And I average about 4.5 brownie parts per "round". each round is 6 brownies (two guards, three around the fire, and the farmer). The guards, surprisingly, actually gave me some visible exp, and about 5-6 plat per kill. I have also gotten a lot of morning dew, anyone have any idea what thjat is used for?

morning dew is use for elven racial armor. a temper
for steamfont you have to kill a lot of mobs in front of mino cave to get the mountain brownies to spawn and they do spawn within that area, no specific loc.

Save all the morning dew you get and sell it in the bazaar. It can help offset your baking cost. When it was a forage only item I used to sell it for 35pp each and it would all vanish in an amazingly short period of time. I’m not sure if its value in the bazaar has dropped since it was added to certain loot tables, but a quick search should give you an idea of what it sells for in the bazaar on your server.

I’ve hunted the brownies in Steamfont so I know they do spawn, but it takes mass killing of greens to get them to do so. For lower level characters this is the place to hunt, for the brownies are lower level too. But if you can handle the brownies in LFay, and that evil black horse doesn’t give you grief, then you may be able to farm parts faster there.
