  • Griffon and Anaconda Meats, Plant Shoots

Just wondering how bad the drop rate/forage rate on all of these are in JP. I usually hardly get any but 6/11/03 when i went there got 12 misc parts.

I guess it would depend on your foraging skill. Mine is low, at lvl 17, and I got 1 plant shoots in about 2 hours.

My friend who is getting meats and plant shoots for me from JP got 9 plant shoots in 2 hours, and about 15 meats. He is a lvl 54 druid, and says it's kind of a PITA running around tracking and killing the griffons, mostly from just tracking them down.

Wish I could have been of more help :?

Its been too long since I hunted JP with my druid to give you exact numbers, but I can tell you that my experience is that this is not a fast way to GM baking. I would spend two or three hours soloing the griffons and anaconda, with foraging linked to my turn arrow key, and do combines afterwards. I always looked at the baking combines as a bonus, never the goal. As best I remember I would usually have less than half a stack of each item. The anaconda meat would be the shortest stack, since they usually took the longest to kill. But between all three I think I got maybe 20 total combines if I was lucky. If you are a ranger or druid JP is a great zone in which to hunt for XP. There are a couple of rare drops you may stumble upon and the baking combines are a great way to top off the evening. But if your goal is to reach GM baking as quickly as possible, this is not the way to go.

Foraging for plant shoots definitely isn't fast. There's like 7 or 8 zone specific forages in addition to the standard stuff on the zone so you don't get alot of plant shoots quickly.

Jagged Pine has many positives for any Baker but especially the Baking Ranger or Druid:

            - One zone away from a Druid portal
            - Can travel freely without aggro from animals
            - Can forage Plant Shoots (rare due to the crowded table, look on it as a bonus but a bonus nevertheless)
            - Can fear kite Griffons (both types) and Anacondas for meat, loot and perhaps xp
            - Baking Vendors and Banker in zone
            - Basilisks: a rich source of high yield eggs in zone

For the best ratio of baking components obtained to time spent I would advise hunting only the two types of Griffon as the time taken to locate the somewhat rare (and harder) Anacondas on track doesnt seem worth the extra hassle.

                I get around 30 plant shoots / 6 hours at 200 forage.

The nice thing about the anacondas is that they are higher level than the griffons. So when the griffons turn light blue you can still hunt dark blue anaconda for experience.

Threads like this make me want to play my druid and ranger again.

FYI: Plant shoots drop as loot off of the potamieds in Jaggedpine.

That explains why they can be found on vendors /doh! Was wondering why I found 6 of them on one.

I've been alternating between JP and CS from Levels 50-53 (almost 54 now and I've gained 3 AAs). As far as the griffon and anaconda meat goes, I would say I get anywhere from 50-66% of meat drops per kill, regardless of animal. I've got about 180 griffon meats after about 300 griffon (not griffawns, just griffons) kills. About the same ratio of anaconda meat as well (100 from 170 or so).

Foraging the plant shoots varies wildly for me. The other day I got 5! plant shoots in a row from foraging and 22 total in a 3 hour session. Once I got over 10 each of all the darn no-drop specials before getting a single plant shoot. It just varies wildly. 10 per 3 hour session is probably a good number, if a tad conservative (I have probably 130 from the time I spent gathering the above meats).

BTW, I would NOT use plant shoots for baking skillups. I would use them for LoY ribbon dye components. Use the meats for the skillups instead. Of course, since I already have my baking spoon, I have no idea what to do with all the meat now And don't get me started on the wyvern and drake meats that I have...
