With MTP's there is only one thing that needs to be farmed.
And that is the brownie parts for the Winter chocolate.

Every single other last piece is bought.

Both involve an assinying about of subcombines.

But, MTP's sell better as well..

Welcome to the high end of tradeskills. Actually, from what I have heard and I skilling up on them myself, MTP's are very slow to skill up on. The reason a lot of people do them is because it is easy to get the supplies to make them. The only farmed item is brownie parts, and you can usually find those in the bazaar for a reasonable price.

Skilling up, especially between 190-210 or so, is VERY slow. Its just not with baking. Just keep at it and you will get past it.

I did MTPs from 227 to 250. I found I had 17 brownie parts in the bank and I ended up useing allmost all of them in the jumjum cakes. in the end I think I had under 1 stack of cakes left. altho I did KInda well maybe a wee bit over do the marmalade sammys hehehe I made a boatload (didnt quite realise what I was doing. so I hade Ohh 2 or so backpacks of those left and 7 or 8 stacks of marmalade left as well. I didnt keep track but I averaged 2 to 3 skillups per 4 stacks (1 bag of 8) of attempts.so I believe the running average was about 30 or 35 attempts per skillpoint.

check "economics of HMP vs MTP" thread

Basicly it's cheaper and easier to do MTP than HMP (5 times cheaper and 10 times less drops to hunt)

BUT .... HMP trivial at 226, the estimate I am currently using for MTP is trivial 355.

Getting one skill point for 10-20 combines on HMP in the low 200's seems to be about average.

Getting one skill point for 40-100 combines on MTP in the low 200's seems to be about average.

MTP sell better, and more people use them for food.

At about 192 skill it's actually cheaper for my wife to make MTP for us to eat than to buy them from people in the bazaar for 7pp or more.

So, if you are going to EAT the MTP it's cheaper, but slower skilling.

We've been looking into Pixie sticks to make 202 easier.
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

I've done a "small" amount of MTP's since 180 (just wanted one for myself) probably have done around 120 to 180 combines and personally I've NEVER gotten a SINGLE skill point on them. I'm at 207 right now and have been just constantly checking bazaar for all items that go trivial above 208. If you can forage, hit PoJ for Justice fruit. small amounts of combines and I think in like 30 mins there I had like 11 fruits. I don't like MTP's anymore just cause of all the combines and you can't do them in a spit. I also like trying Hob surprise since those can actually have a decent return even if they cost 100pp per attempt, I can sell the surprises for 300pp. Just my experience.
