I usually do 400 Misty Thicket Picnic combines at once and usually get 11 points on average after doing it (255 wisdom+geerlock) but this run of 400 MTP at 233 I only gaind 4 points which brought me to 237. Am I being paranoid that the geerlock had something to do with this low skill rate?

if you are max int/wis then you might as well equip the geerlock. since int/wis is related to skill ups, max that first.Tinile, 85th Druid of the Seventh Hammer
