  • Hmm should i attempt MTP now?

Hi folks, never posted before and only lurk on occasion.

Coreies is my Necro baker and I have been doing HMP's up to my current skill of 209.

I started doing HMP's at about skill 188.
After last nights 100 combines and with 1 skill up I am a bit tired of them.

My Int was 250 with those combines but will be 255 for whatever i combine next. Kaladim Tea is nice.

So I'm wondering what else i can skill with.

    MTP
    anaconda melts
    Griifon Melts
    Cheesy "xxxxx"

What in your opinion produces results without a million combines.

I can farm most things with my monk, Zebansis-62, but have no idea of the drop rates for Anaconda meat or griffon meat. Cant get Louts sap though, **** casters kick his arse.

Its going to be a battle which ever way i go but it would be nice to move on to something else. Maybe at 209 I am getting to close to the trivial lvl of HMP's to get results with them. Perhaps i was just unlucky. THe above items i listed all go trivial at 250 obviously.

I think i am eitehr in for a farming/hunting battle or a multi combine battle.

Which would you do, or did do, to get to 250.

I have also foregone the baking geerlock to get higher intelligence for skill ups since i hit skill 200. Im thinking that gong after a 250 trivial item i would need to start using the geerlock again. With HMP's i really didnt notice to much a difference with and without the geerlock.

    Thanks for the Advice

The drop rate of the griffon meat is pretty good... Don't know about the anacondas... I can't play in JP because of the lag, so it's been a while since I've been there. If you can hunt in JP - go for it - very easy combines - but when I hunted there I had to be in wolf form (not a problem since I always hunt with a druid).

If you can get your hands on Jord meat, that is a fairly easy combine - 1 jord meat, 1 clump of dough, pie tin in a PoK oven. Yield is only one, and I don't know how they sell in the bazaar - but can't be any worse than a griffon melt. I've been getting Jord meat from higher level guild mates in exchange for MTP's and Lotus Pie.

The Halas pies will serve you well until they triv - you are just having a run of bad luck - skill ups will get closer together as you approach the triv level.

I've been making MTP (I'm 235) for skilling - so far so good. I'm averaging one skill up for every 30 combines.

LOL - IMO, there's never a good time to do HMPs - they are one of the worst power baking recipes out there. HMPs take four times as many total combines as the infamous Misty Thicket Picnics - thier only advantage is that they don't require skill in brewing, tailoring and smithing as well.

As for you being stuck in combines - welcome to the infamous hell levels.

For your next 20 or so skill points, expect most of them to take an obscene number of combines to get through - in three seperate tradeskills going from high 180s to post 200 that has consistantly been the case for me with 100 combines being a rough average of the needed number per skill point at those levels.

Don't forget to vendor dive in Jaggedpine. Everyonce in a while someone will just dump their griffin meat on the cheese vendor. (For that matter, I got several points from someone in the bazaar dumping griffin meat at a few plat each.)

I found griffin meat to provide more skillups per combines than MTP's. And a lot easier too. Don't for get to kill the basilisks for eggs for the noodles.

I did patty melts until trivial, then truffles till 200 (I think) then the Horrible Meat Pies (HMP) :P till trivial... at 226 I began with MTPs which might seem more difficult (or at least painful) but the yields on all items is big... contrary to HMPs... also you might find at times subcombines for sale cheap in the bazaar. MTPs always sell well so you can get rid of your surplus easily. I still do them for pc's and friendss ...and sometimes I throw in a stack or two on my trader.

Now, if I had as much sucess with my trophy :x

I mostly did griffon/anaconda/plant combines through the low 200s. Worked very well, the skill up rate was significantly faster then anything else I tried. Doesn't really sell in the bazaar, but vendor diving kept me supplied pretty well. I also skilled up on any PoP recipe I could get hold of the ingredients for, including crawdads and the breaded salmon, worth considering as an toption.

              Thanks

              Thanks for the advice.

On a side note i went from 0 to 151 in brewing last night in about 20 minutes.

Fetid Essence and Skull Ale were all that i made. THen i got my entire guild and another guild drunk at a Tormax raid with all the Ale that i had made. Got my ST key finally too!!
It was fun for hte first 15m or so watching people try to talk, babble babble babble.)

Never thought i would catch the trade skill bug.

On the graphics lag issue, a couple things totally turned it around for me:

                1) I turned off all luclin models (of course you can't turn off the stupid froglok, but there are not usually many)

                2) I turned on d3d texture compression

                3) I always have texture cache on, not sure if that helps as much as texture compression.

The texture compression one helps with the main problem in jagged pine, tree leaves. It helps quite a lot actually for me.

Doing those things, I went from having a bunch of graphical lag in the jaggedpine zone to absolutely none.

Thanks for the tips on getting rid of lag in JP... I'm at the level I can still get experience hunting Griffins and get the meat too... And taking my druid friend he can forage plant shoots (though not near enough of them).
