  • HMP Calculator (Excel Spreadsheet)

I've been lurking here for years but never had much to say. After reading posts with people wondering "how much stuff do I need to make HMP's", and wondering that myself, I set out on a mission.

The spreadsheet will tell you the quantity of items you need to buy/have in order to do the amount of combines you specify. This is the first attempt at the spreadsheet, so there may be errors. I’ll correct the errors as they come up but I doubt that I will be adding more features to it.

      Ask and ye shall receive:

      Baking Spreadsheet

Plug in your expected failure rates for the individual combines and your desired yield of MTPs, and it will tell you how much of each raw ingredient you need to buy. Chillsy's is much nicer than mine, though.

Thank you both for your wonderful creations. They make it much easier on us bakers who need possibly 2000+ combines ot get a rough idea on components.

            Chillsy,

I have a problem downloading the HMP zip file.

It downloads, is 5k in size, but when I try to unzip it, its empty. =(

That's odd. I don't know what the problem would be. I just put an unzipped version on there you can try...

Thank you for the spreadsheet! The only suggestion I can make to improve it would be to try and work in the "5% rule" to the subcombines as well.

With that in mind, I've reworked the "Subcombines" section of the Halas Pies sheet to take the annoying trivial combine failures into account. Because it rounds up the number of combines needed for any given step, you may find yourself not needing the exact number of ingredients my version suggests, also the cost per pie will be slightly higher than the original version.

I just updated the site to include the HMP(v02) spreadsheet reworked by Tibis, and the MTP spreadsheet made by Magrath.

OK, I've fiddled with the pie calculator again. I know, I know - I can't leave it be, I just like my pies, OK?!

                      Changes made in v0.21:
[list][*]New column added in the "Pre-Combines" section, called "Expected # Ingredients Made". This tells you how much of each type of ingredient will be made assuming a 95% success rate on combines, rounding the number of successful combines down. You can calculate and plan for your leftovers accordingly.[*]Changed "Pies Made" to "Expected Number of Pies Made" and slightly reworked the formula to reflect that the number of pies made will be an exact multiple of 6.[*]Slightly changed the "Total Profit" formula to be (total pies made * selling price per pie) - total cost of ingredients[*]Added a "Total Expected Number of Combines" information field, to let you know approximately how much clicking you'll have to do to get your pile o'pies.[*]Fixed a miscalculation with the amount of cream needed.[/list:u]As I commented in my last post, I have written the formulas to always round in the less favourable direction so, with good luck, you'll be able to spend less / endure fewer clicks.

                      Revised version at http://www.top-hat.demon.co.uk/HMP-v021.zip.

Edit: Different site listed because I couldn't connect to my web space on thesafehouse.org

                      Excel version used is 2000.

                        Updated

It took a while but I have updated the http://mywebpages.comcast.net/lmerfudd/bake.htmdownload site</a> with the current version (Tibis' v0.21). Thanks for your contribution to the sheet, Tibis.

I thought I wsa the only one who was actually sick enough to use a spreadsheet to help with combines.... now I see that I am not alone in my sickness. These spreadsheets gave me some nice ideas to add to my own. Thanks for making this one for me. I was afraid to work on it myself
