  • 191-200 baking

Hey there. First time on the baking forums here, and earlier today i went from 1-21 with left over training at the wizard guild, then from 21-143 with Lion Fillets (Lion meat purchased in SH + Filleting knife) and then from 143-191 with Patty melt (Lion meat from SH, Bread from PoK, and cheese). I was wondering what would be the most efficent way to get from 191-200, keeping in mind my only char is a gnomish wizard. I'm willing to put in some plat if its needed, id prefer not to have to farm for hours on end . All imput is welcomed

Well, if you don't want to spend hours farming then you can try the Bazaar for a few thing and make Misty Thicket Picnics, triv over 250, or Truffels, triv only at 202. Try that stuff to start off. Hope it helps.

I did not say meat pies because of two things. One; I think they are more of a pain for sub combines then MTPs are and Two; they are GIANT, so you need a giant bag just for them.

K, assuming you can't forage (so leaving out cinnesticks recipe, and candied cockroaches) I suggest that you grab your fishing pole and head to PoP, to get ingredients for those last 9 points.

If you're flagged for the elemental planes, go to Plane of Water (can fish right at the graveyard!) and fish up a bunch of giant snapper and/or giant halibut. Can make giant snapper steak or gian halibut steak (respectively) by combining them with jugs of sauce, trivial at 208.

If you're not flagged for Water but have finished a trial, the simplest recipe is storm salmon fillet; storm salmon + jug of sauces, trivial at 202. Storm salmon is fished in Plane of Storms.

If you're not flagged, I suggest buttered crawdads, 4 crawdads + butter (butter is milk, rennet, and a dairy spoon, combine in mixing bowl), trivial at 208. Crawdads can be fished in Plane of Nightmares (also Plane of Valor, but if you're flagged Storms is more efficient).

If you know someone who can forage, or can find foraged ingredients in the Bazaar, think about pixie powder cinnesticks. Recipe is cinnamon stick (foraged in GFay) + 3 pixie powders (off of pixies, of course, best souce is in LFay around the tower south of the brownie village). This is trivial at 202, combine is in mixing bowl.

Could also do candied cockroaches (though cinnesticks somewhat more efficent); 4 cockroaches (foraged in Plane of Justice and Crypt of Decay) + flask of water + cup of sugar (sold in POK). This is trivial at 202.

Well im only level 35, so im not in the planes of storms etc, but i guess i can try to work on the bazaar cinnesticks idea.

I tried working with MTPs, and after i got all of the ingredients for 100 combines i went through it. I succeeded once out of 100, and got 1 skillup... i decided that cant be the most efficent way.

Guess its off to the bazaar for me.

To be honest, for your class and level the items you need can be awkward to come by. Life as a baker is so much easier if you can forage. *smiles* The reason you’ll see Halas Pies and Misty Picnics recommended is because most of the supplies you need for these two items are store bought. They can be a major pain to do, but without the ability to forage they are both viable options.

If you were a ranger or a druid I would recommend you go hunting in Jaggedpine. The griffon and anaconda meat that drops there can be used to get to 250 baking and the recipes are very easy, as in no sub combines. Also, the XP in JP is very good and you’re just about the right level to start hunting there, though you might have to gain some levels before you could easily hunt the critters that drop the meat you need. But unless you can find someone to cast group wolf form for you, the animals will try to attack you. And if you kill the wolves, bears and cats your faction will drop with the merchants and that’s not a good thing.

You could try making Ohabah Truffles, which my druid did for a time. The mushrooms are foraged in most Luclin zones and can often be found on vendors and in the bazaar. But of course that’s hit and miss which can prove frustrating when you’re trying to make hundreds of them for skilling up. You would also have to port to Cobalt Scar for the brown algae. If you have the port all you have to worry about is getting past the dragons to the beach. If you have good CoV faction its no big deal. If not you’ll have to hope no dragons are near the port in spot, invis yourself and make a run for it.

Whatever you choose to make, you may still run into long streaks of zero skill gains. I’ve had that happen in every trade skill I’ve tried. Some people believe that you get more skill ups on successes and therefore you should make items as close to your skill level as possible. True or not, if you do so you’re more likely to have items to sell for your trouble. So I’d suggest doing so when possible. But don’t be surprised if you do 80+ combines and don’t get a skill up. It’s frustrating but it happens to all of us.

              Best of luck.

Personally at level 35, as a wizard (best class in the game btw) I'd suggest HMP.

Go to EK, kill gorge hounds and such, they drop wolf meat fairly fast, a stack didn't take me long to get. You can skip this part and just kill the wolves in EF, but I haven't done that and don't know their drop rate.

Then go to everfrost (you're too small for EW). OOC that you are looking for mammoth meat, offer 5pp each, hope the newbies have a bit. Check all the vendors in Halas, seriously, all of them. Then go kill mammoths and mammoth calves... it isn't a very common drop in halas, but it should'nt take 'hours'.

Every meat is good for 10 combines of HMP's, so if you can get a stack that is 200 combines... which you'll end up with 1000 pies you have to get rid of. With 200+ int that should get you very close to 200.

You may also want to just create a foraging character (wood elf, iksar) and plunk them down in echo caverns to forage the mushrooms.

I saved up 20 stacks of mushrooms and did one marathon skillup session from 191 to 202. Took maybe 2 hours, and I had leftovers.

Your milage may of course vary, but.. without spending a great deal of money, that's likely to be your best bet.

Foraging 20 stacks of mushrooms. Hmm this sound like it would take a while. And with a 50 foraging skill... I was thinking of going this route (cant forage, created a baby woodelf), but 20 stacks sounds hard!

                    HMP sounding better....

just as a heads up you can't forage mushrooms in every area of Luclin either. Bazaar is a no and DSP also.

Though turffles are a great way to go. I'm finding it slow but steady. maybe 200 combines now and 3 skill ups.

To anyone flagged for Plane of Storms, I would highly recommend the storm salmon fillets. I did 191-200 over the weekend on about 160 combines(was about 500 baits used to catch enough fish). Wis was maxed at 270. Fishing parts sucks but is cheap and only uses fish + jugs of sauces.

I often find mushrooms on vendors, both PC and NPC. The NPCs have them cheap. PCs, not so cheap (some for more than I sell the Truffles!). They are relatively painless to make, but I am not sure how many I want to get to get that last point of baking to 200 (well, I plan to GM tailoring first).

In reality to the orginal poster, truffles are not going to be as easy as everyone is saying. At Lvl 35 he will need someone to get the Aglae for him. Also the alchamey peice (the name is escaping me at the moment) is pricey.
