Sure, baking is a good skill at any int/wis, it'll just take more combines for you than it would with 255+, like any other skill.

You can get to 191 fairly easily, with just a few trips to JP, and a non-stick frying pan. I'd suggest going directly to patty melts, ignoring any steps in between .

After that, the world is your oyster, hehe.

        'weee'

you WILL hit a brick wall right around skill 175. I noticed, as did my roommate, that baking screetched to a near halt, definately by the time I was making 177.

Roomie has all but stopped at 180s. Thank all the good deities for a free kei today, I got 194 and 195 within less than 20 combines of Halas 10, and don't expect 196 for a looong time.

with any tradeskill, the 170s+ is where the skillups start getting farther and farther...... and faaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrttttttttthhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeer rrrrrr apart. I say this not to 'discourage you NOW', but to keep you from bawling later.

My advice: When it gets hard, don't do it for points, and if you do MTPs, don't do it for successes. Do it because it's fun to sit at the oven and combine. Make Melts/Pasta because you want food, not because you want that durned 188th baking point.

Don't let it get you to where you can't smile. Expect the hard times, they WILL come. But do enjoy the journey. ^_^

            Yep. Halas 10lb Meat Pies.

To show you how few and far between skill-ups are, my Baking skill is currently 193, and my Intelligence is in the 190's. Since I hit 191, it took about 80-something combines to hit 192. (I did HMPs for MOST but not all of those combines. Did a Few Griffon Melt and Griffon Stir Fry combos, also) I hit 193 about 6 combines later, but I was under KEI when I hit 192 and 193. Since then I've done about 40 to 50 more combinations without a skill-up.

From what I've heard, 191-200 are the Baking hell levels, so I'm not surprised.

Good luck with Baking. For me its been a fun tradeskill to do, but the lack of skill-ups can get frustrating.

              Maybe...

If you can forage, I'd recommend Truffles or Cinnisticks...

otherwise, I would check the HMP market on your server as compared to the picnic market. While you won't get many (or maybe any) successes on MTP, they always sell, as opposed to HMP which might sit in your bank or on your trader for long periods without selling.

              Good luck.

Jord Meat is a better option, if you can get a good supply of it.

I've managed to get a few pieces from someone in my guild and off of vendors in PoK and used them.

(I'm only lvl 39, so its going to be a while before I can get them straight from the source)

                      reply from another baking bard

As another bard I know how hard it is to get INT or WIS up above 200 and as such I have spent LOTS of time trying to skill up with baking that my mage (INT 228) breezed through.

From 191 to 202 I'd ignore the 10lb pies and MTPs unless you are trying to get workers comp for wrist and finger injuries. Those levels are hard enough for characters with really HIGH INT or WIS, but for us poor bards it is deathly.

Beg your guildies to forage mushrooms and cinnamon sticks for you. Go forage yourself, check every vendor in Shadowhaven, and constantly check the bazaar. Over the course of a week I'd see about 100 mushrooms in the bazaar and maybe 50 cinnamon sticks. I refused to pay over 2pp for either, but the cinnamon has gone up now since it is useful in the new cultural tailoring.

Killing thousands of pixies in LFay gets mind-numbing, but it gives you a chance to pick up some brownie parts from the outcasts at the same time and I preferred that to all the subcombines of Meat Pies.

With KEI and singing my song I could get my INT to 209 and it took me about 400 mushrooms and 100 cinnamon sticks to get my baking to 202.
