We've had a number of new baker's popping up on Bristlebane who've ruined the market. It's very annoying.

I've had 5k pies in my bank before and I still don't drop them that low. It's unfair to others, IMO. When I was skilling up, I just made something else till my pies were gone. They sell fast on Bristlebane even at 4p so there is NO reason to drop them down that low on our server. (I saw one sell them for 1pp once! But a lot of the newer bakers sell for 2-2.5p now.)

Another thing that is frustrating for me, is to see old-time bakers now dropping their prices because they no longer need the money. They've bought their horses and made uber cash and now they don't care if they make a smaller profit and will undercut everyone by 2-5p per item. It's pretty selfish if you ask me.

I'm working on my baking but have managed to make more money selling food found on vendors instead of what I've made. Fish Rolls and Patty Melts may only sell for 1pp each but it does add up over time and the best part is I didn't have to make the durn things.

It's the same on Innoruuk. New bakers and brewers everyday and all of them charging next to nothing for their goods.

And the /oocs heard in the bazaar everyday are.."Where can I buy cheese?", "Where can I get mammoth meat?", and "How do you make ............?". They are usually answered with a, "Go to www.eqtraders.com"

/em turns to an undercutter - "It's undercutters like you who have ruined your own tradeskills - you'll not ruin mine!"

          /em targets undercutter and attacks

/em swings, but gets no message because he's swinging at a PC on a blue server

/em casts a spell but it gets resisted since he's on a blue server

          /em says "/pet attack an_undercutter9058"

"Sorry master, but that is not a legal target."

          /sigh

I sell Grobbs at 8pp and HMPs at 6pp each. On a server where both can be found as low as 3pp. When skilling up baking, I alternated recipes. I have several hundred, not thousand HMPs. I only put 100 or so at a time on my merchant, who also has patty melts, fish rolls, and (when I've made some recently) Grobbs. They DO sell. Sure, it takes longer, but sooner or later I'm the only one out there with them for sale OR someone who also wants force feed food will pay the higher price for the convenience of one-stop shopping. I refuse to undercut, I'm the high seller not the low. I also will occasionally buy out my competitors when they price at just over cost, after all, it saves me the clicks and if by some chance it never sells, I'll use them myself.

              re

Even people that used to make fun of me for spending time on tradeskill I now catch doing at least baking to fullfill their visions of Halas pie making.

I don't even try to sell the baking items anymore on Xev. I usually give them away to guildies and people I group with. I would rather put items that brings in higher pps on my alts, like high end JC, tailoring, smithing and Pottery items. Baking and Brewing items are not really worth selling for me.

I recently decided to GM baking and i sell pies at 3.5pp each - what i do is check the market before i start selling. Most sell for 4 pp and a few as high as 6 pp so i sell what i make normally overnight ( i make 2 stacks of ingredients and combine to average arround 200 pies ), but sometimes there appears on the market some person selling for as little as 2pp!

These sorts of people are doing baking for 1 reason :- to max out a tradeskill as fast as possible (presumably to get the trophy and bag)

They are not in it to make a profit and give them 2-3 weeks and you'll never see there names on the market again.

I chose baking over all other tradeskills because it (like brewing) is not only fun to make but also fun to sell ( i actually set up in trader mode and make pies while i sell them ), to see my supplies sell while i am baking is something id never expect to do with any other tradeskill.

For the record, the most HMPs I've ever had at one time was about 8 stacks. I usually have only 4 or 5 stacks at most, though.

I usually sell for 3 to 4pp (the average going rates on The Rathe. At least when I'm in the Bazaar), but I've gone to PoK a couple of times and auctioned them off for 2pp, just to clear the bank space when I've had several stacks for a while without them selling.

I share this computer with 2 other people, so I can't stay up in trader mode for more than two or three hours at a time, usually. (I play late at night and into the morning, so selling overnight isn't an option)

Fortunately, someone in my guild lets me sell my items through them now, so I don't even worry about it anymore, and won't be selling any HMPs for 2pp each again any time soon.

In all the time I've been making HMPs only two, maybe three, people in my entire guild have bought any from me (I've sold more Patty Melts to guild members than anything), but I also supplied a few stacks as food for a raid once. Two clerics were going after an epic piece (Lord Burgurgle's Crown, or something like that?), and I was unable to go to the raid because at the time it was to place I wasn't going to be home, so I gave one of them a few stacks to hand out before the raid started.

When I left the game a few months ago MTP were still 100-150 each, HMP were about 25. I come back only to find that HMP are now 2pp and MTP as low as 10 stupid patty melts.
