I went from 242 to 50 tonight in under three stacks of combines. Then I made my spoon. The last few combines were absolutely amazing...I wouldn't believe it myself if I didn't have a screenshot.

Feel free to skip the cut & paste of the log but just have to post it cause it is absolutely not possible and yet true.

I really noticed that after PoP I started skilling up faster. I don't know if it is the 300 wis or if the PoP recipes just skillup better for some reason (I'm betting on the wis) but it went a lot faster. Haven't had a really bad streak since I started doing PoP combines. Don't usually get incredible results like this but haven't had any really really bad ones either.

I really think that int/wis over 255 does make a difference.

I’m betting it’s the wisdom as well. I’ve read numerous posts where people have 300+ wisdom/intelligence and how trade skill gains really fly. The best wisdom my druid could get was 223 and the best wisdom my shaman, my new main, can get is about 208. So I usually expect my skills to go up slower. But its nice to know that some day when I actually get to go on raids and have a chance at decent gear, I can look forward to faster skill gains.

I definatly isn't going that fast for me, 218 took me 167 combines, and 219 took me about as many...then today I went for another 100 skill combines but after about 75 (with no skill ups) I stuck my son (he's eight) on, showed him how to do it because I was trying to do some stuff for my wife, 25 skill combines later he comes and says, done daddy, I went and looked...5 points. I told him to plan on doing 26 more and a spoon combine lol.

Yeah, 191 to 195 in baking was awful for me too...I think it ended up being something like 150 to 200 combines per point. Then it got much easier for awhlie, and now that I'm at 240, it's awful again. I'm stocking up on the easy-to-combine stuff and planning a marathon.

Just for the record, it seems like cheesy xxx casseroles are not only easier to combine (max 18 clicks per combine, including the subcombine versus...what...25 to 30 clicks per combine for MTPs or the ungodly 50 plus for Halas pies), but also seems to skill up faster. In 2 seperate sets of 100 attempts each at casseroles (mixed types- when you're not a forager, you can't be picky about your ingredients), I got a total of 11 skill bumps. On 4 seperate sets of 200 attempts each at MTPs, I've gotten 10. And the MTP sets were intermingled with the casseroles...I did casseroles first, then 2 sets of 200 each MTPs, then casseroles again, then 2 sets of MTPs again. I don't know if this means the karma just wasn't with me when I was working on the picnics or what, but it sort of leads me to suspect that skill bump probability is in some way influenced by the delta between your current skill and the trivial of the item being attempted. And I know someone is going to point out that half of my MTP combines are on the upper end of things, but 5 of the 10 MTP points came in the last two sets of 200 combines. So...

100 Casserole combines = 5 skillups
400 MTP combines = 5 skillups
100 Casserole combines = 6 skillups
400 MTP combines = 5 skillups

I don't know what it means, but there you have it.

Okay, I just made it to 250 baking, and I'm now more sure than ever that the chances of getting a skill bump are related either to the delta between your skill and the trivial of the recipe being attempted, or on the complexity of the recipe being attempted. It took just 11 stacks of griffon/anaconda meat and plant shoots (220 attempts) to get from 240 to 250. And made the spoon on my first attempt . Finally, I can get back to levelling.

Ironic, I know exactly what you mean regarding the difference between the trivial and your skill being a factor as to how quickly you skill up. I've always felt that as well however, I was at the Boston Fan Faire a few months back and this exact question was brought up to the Developer during the Tradeskill forum. His answer was that the ONLY factor in determining a skill up was the highest of the associated stats - i.e. WIS/INT or STR for smithing, etc.

In practice it still seems to me that the other way is true but /shrug.
