I must admit im the same way about rezzes too.

I fail to see how this is Selfish in any kind of way.

There was a skill that is limited to certian people. Different people have different skills.

Allowing people to buy that kinda of service from an NPC, to me, is a bad thing(TM).

I dont buy mage-summoned focus items from an NPC, I dont get healed by an NPC, and I dont Have my corpse summoned by an NPC. NPCs do not tank for me. There is no KEI-Npc.

And if any of those were put in, then I wouldn't see a problem with people complaining.

In gutka there is a frog NPC that buffs for donations...

1 free spell, and one donated, I did it... but I forget the details

If there was an NPC that x-locced to all wizzy locations for a specific amt. of PP varied by location I would have no problems.

I always thought the PoK stones should start charging people at level 10.

Then again I wouldn't mind NPC's that Rezzed, Summoned corpses, and buffed for plat.

For example, if there was an NPC that you could pay 100pp to have extended duration C3 cast on you, people could still offer it for donations in Nexus. Doesn't sound like such a bad idea to me.

Anyhow, the person who said this got off topic is right... but screaming nerf in the topic does kind of allow for differing opinions in the responses.

P.S. Lilosh, I have used an NPC to tank for me... it's called training the guard, and timing your nuke so you do 50% + of the damage, and get the kill. Honestly only done it once or twice, and because a guard happened to get in the way... but now that you mention it it does sound viable.

I was the first to say I didn't like the forager and I have no character that can forage... I don't think it has to do with selfish reasons. For me (as I posted) it is about the memories I made while collecting my baking ingrediants.

I think it is a common misconception and too easy a trap to fall into to consider anyone who doesn't agree with you as having a bad motive for his ideas...

This isn't new. Many old world cities have NPCs that will cast clerical buffs on you in return for "donations" (not necessarily money), as well as cast cure poison or disease.
There is an NPC in the Temple of Divine Light, for example, who offers to cure you (iirc - might be a buff. never used him myself.) if you give him a small cash donation. There's an NPC in Qeynos who will cast a cleric AC buff (Holy Armor, I think) if you do as he asks (can't remember what he wants...). While the cures can be explained as the Temples providing badly needed aid for desperate characters, the Qeynos NPC provides a straight AC buff, in addition to other NPCs who provide cures.

There was supposed to be a group in Dagnor's Caludron that would heal you if you asked nicely as well ... but they don't do it anymore.

In Dragnor's, I thought the bit was in the phrasing. If you ask to be healed, he says he must concerve his mana and you should sit and rest instead. And if you did sit, he would heal you.

Never actually sat myself (but did go through the text), but when I asked other people in Unrest, that was the response I got.
