  • Dar Forager Lumun isn't Broken....he's Nerfed!!!

I went to Gukta for the first time to buy Mushrooms from Lumun. I caught him leaving Gukta, but he didn't have any Mushrooms on him. So I waited for him to come back, and he didn't have any Mushrooms on him when he re-entered OR when he finally stopped and stood in place.

He had something called Swamp Rolls (Sta and Wis +1, iirc) that had the same graphic as Fish Rolls and Mature Cheese, but no Mushrooms. He apparently carries 1 stack of these at a time. I bought 3 stacks. One when he was leaving, one when he re-entered, and one when he stopped. About 3pp a stack, and my Ranger will be eating them once I arrange a transfer.

Are Swamp Rolls a new item that have replaced the Mushrooms, or has he carried these all along and just didn't have Mushrooms at all?

I just checked as well (Tarrew Marr) and they have changed him to selling swamp rolls.

Best we can hope for is that they cycle some of his forages per patch perhaps....

He sold Swamp Rolls and Mushrooms at the same time on Veeshan, I remember thinking "Hey, that's something different for newbie frogs to buy; beats Iron Rations." I haven't checked since the patch though.

I have to say if the Forager is nerfed, I'm not surprised. The "clear out his mushrooms twice" was likely a bug which we bakers used heavily, and it made Baking VERY easy to get over 200. Add to that the fact that Mushrooms are a Luclin-only forage (although.. it made sense for them to be in a swamp).

It was nice while it lasted.

Yup... the shroom train has departed never to return.... I got about 300 off him before he was whacked up side the head wit the nerf bat.

Tis a sad day for all.

Baking can already be taken to 191 with store bought components. Then they changed it to 202. That seems wrong to me that someone willing to sink some plat and time can sit and click all the way past 200. Not wrong exactly....just...pointless.

Baking for me was all about the discovery of ingredients and baking what I hunted when I could. Making mammoth steaks for all my friends as I grew up in Halas (my original main was a barb), merchant mining snake eggs in qeynos and killing snakes then finding a druid or ranger who wanted to sell a stack of fruit or veggies so I could make pie. Getting excited when I found some meat on a vendor so I could make meat pie. I went to 142 and got stuck. I was too low to kill brownies and the bazaar didn't exist. Then luclin came out and WOW centi steaks. The challenge of dragging my friends to hunt in AK again so I could make centi steaks and stew. That was incredible food back then. Then begging everyone in my guild to forage mushrooms for me and vendor farming again mixed with halas pie. My baking levels were all memories for me.

Can't say that it is wrong to just buy and click but I think you miss something along the way when you do.

Thanks for this, I've never quite been able to phrase it.

My Baking skill is 193. I've been doing mostly HMPs (with a few Griffon Melts and Griffon Stir Frys (Stir Fries?) and a couple of Cheesy Vegetable Casseroles for variety) since around 188, but in that time I've done well over 150 combines of HMPs (it took me around 79 combines to go from 191 to 192, but only about 5 to hit 193. Go figure).

I wanted to do Ohabah Truffles, since I bought about 3 stacks of Brown Algae off a vendor in PoK. I made 2 stacks of them using Mushrooms I bought from a trader in the Bazaar, and went to Gukta to buy more from Lumun. But now it looks like I'm going to have to send one of my alts who can forage to the moon for a while.

Looks like Bhadguy (my Iksar BL) is going to be moving to Luclin. (No biggie, because I don't like the Field of Bone much, anyway.....)

Well, I'm sure I said it before, but I didn't want to make a big stink about it.

I wasn't a big fan of Dar Forager. It seemed to me like selling mushrooms was just....

I don't know, I didnt like it. And I , for one, am glad it's gone.

Ask a friend to forage you some mushrooms. I cant move in SH without finding one on my cursor. Dont spend 1 silver to avoid human interaction all the way to 202.

I can see both sides of this. Camping the frog to buy the mushrooms is kind of a mini quest in and of itself. That sort of thing can be somewhat exciting in and of itself. And having foraged and foraged and foraged and foraged and foraged and foraged for mushroom myself, I can appreciate others being relieved that they didn’t have to. But for baking, I don’t think its that big of a deal.

There are a good number of paths to becoming a 250 baker. And thankfully most of them are not very expensive. Heck, if you had to you could create a foraging character and leave him or her in JP and forage items that will take you all the way to 250. It’s not fast, but it’s affordable. Some trade skills, like fletching, have been nerfed in such a way that they can only be practiced by players with large bank accounts or high-level characters. That’s why I don’t consider them fun anymore. Anyone can bake and have fun doing it, no mater what their level or how small their bank account. That’s the way I feel all trade skills should be like. Having high level characters or huge bank accounts may speed up the process, but they shouldn’t determine whether or not you can practice the skill. So I feel baking is one of the best trade skills in the game. And the removal of the mushroom vendor may slow things down a bit, but it certainly doesn’t prevent anyone from working on their skill.

I am glad that was changed as well. I never liked the idea of someone being able to buy foraged items off merchants, even if you could only buy so many at a time before he had to go back out.

Yes Lilosh, it's good to know that people with a monopoly are happy to keep it.

You can't have not noticed that you're both Druids?

Oh, I'm over it, lvl 29 druid toon, so I can now imbue emeralds, and forage fairly decently.

Yeah its funny how all the people who "hated" the npc can forrage

hmmm wonder if theres a connection

Oh wait melee's can get an npc to bind them now. Thats not fair!!! lets remove those npc's

You see everyone wants to "keep" their advantage and oppose instance of giving their advantage to someone else

                            selfish in a way

I must admit im the same way about rezzes too.

I think things are getting a wee bit off topic here, might want to take griping to the Primal Scream Room or elsewhere to avoid thread closage.

That said, I never had a problem with the guy. I thought that at worst, it'd help a few cash-poor non-foraging bakers get some shrooms a little cheaper, but that no real damage was done.
