  • Do Ohabah Truffles sell well?

I can't go to Cobalt Scar to buy Baking supplies from the Othmir (haven't done enough CoV faction work to keep the nasties there off my back, or I'd pay for a port), but I managed to buy several stacks of Brown Algae off of a vendor in PoK, and I bought 10 Mushrooms for 100pp from a trader in the Bazaar, then went and made Ohabah Truffles (219 Int with c3, 193 Baking skill, no failed combines but no skill-ups, either). I now have 40 of them in the bank.

Do these sell well, or should I transfer them to my Monk and let him use them for food?

In my experience they don't sell that well, or for that much. They are a kind of novelty product. I have noticed alot of buyers from me (they sell rarely at best) buy 1 to 10 of them at a time. At a guess to give to some other player (maybe a female). I never tried running around and Auctioning them but, that could work.

    But they are a nice skill up path to get you past the 190's, after reading your experiences, I would like to offer some tips;

    1) For mushroom gathering, there is a NPC in the new froglok city called Dar Forager Lumm. He stocks 25 Mushrooms at a time. I believe once per day he wanders off and roams about the swamp then returns JUST past 9am Norrath time. If you catch him before he sets up shop (just in front of the soulbinder) you can buy 25 Mushrooms, then a further 25 when he reaches his trading position. Each mushroom is sold for some silver. Unless players are selling Mushrooms for 1pp or 2pp don't buy them for more, unless money is not an option.

    2) My Wisdom on my Baker (with KEI) is 207 and 400 Truffles took me past most of the 190's without to much trouble.

    3) The nastie's in C.S will not see through invis. Get someone to SOW, LEVITATE and INVIS you before porting in, then run straight down off the cliff to the beach. The Othmirs are not on COV faction so you will be sweet. Its very easy to do, if you are still doubtful, hire a Druid that is auctioning ports to buy you 2 backpacks worth that has COV faction. My druid does not have COV faction, and I port and then invis in once every second day.

If you do use the above methods to get through the 190's, you will have heaps of truffles at the end of it btw.

    Good luck.

      Truffle sales

Truffles will move. Maybe not quickly, and certainly not for any degree of profit worth mentioning if you have to purchase the mushrooms at Bazaar prices. Your inventory movement and price will vary widely by server (different competitive degrees on each server), and over time (one power-skiller selling at under cost will sink the market for a product for weeks, but often the market bounces back). I find that on FV, Truffles move steadily over a week's time at 1PP each. As a forager who splits his tradeskilling time between PoK and Shadowhaven, I often have a stack or two of mushrooms hanging out in the baking bag in the bank, and as a brewer who sells Coldain Velium Tempers, I usually have some brown algae on hand too. This makes me lucky.

If you don't have easy (read as: virtually free) access to mushrooms and brown algae, I recommend you use the Ohabah Truffles for skill ups and to feed your monk alt. Making a profit otherwise will be difficult at best.

      Hope that helps a little,

I sold them at 2pp each slowly but steadily. Of course, that was pre justice fruit pies, and I suspect my primary customers were rangers, so that may not still hold true.

I sell everything but truffles. They just don't move for me.

People used to use them. Monks specially seemed to like them. But now with all the PoP HP food, I don't know anyone who wants them. Hit points > stats for melee and casters want mana food.

I don't think people realize what they are or that they have stats. In inventory, they look like something poisonous lol.

When I made truffles, several months ago, I sold them for 1pp each on Seventh Hammer. They sold very very slowly. I usually just gave them away to guild mates. At 229 baking I happily no longer need to make them, but I still can’t bring myself to eat the mushrooms I forage. So once I get a stack or two in the bank I’ll place them on my vendor and sell them for 5 gold each. Needless to say, they don’t last long.

I had a ton of truffles on my vendor from skillups. It took a week or so, but they all sold at 5g each. Some people bought multiple stacks.

I still have leftover mushrooms, and they aren't selling by themselves.. I'm considering just making these into truffles to sell. :?

My trader sold off my last stack of Truffles yesterday at 1pp each... I must say, Dar Forager Lumun came along at just the right point in my baking skill progression...

It's been hit or miss but I've moved about 200 at 2pp each. It seems that when they go they are taken several stacks at a time. I've also been puting them up on /auction so people can see what they are. I sold 80 like that.

Well, I must have revers-jinxed myself.

Sold my first stack of truffles last night at 2pp each
