Baking as a necro

I have a level 21 gnome necromancer that's currently at a 195 baking skill. I've done Halas Meat Pies and I was very successful, but the mammoth meat is hard to come by, even with my level 40 druid at my disposal.

Are there alternatives that I might explore? I have two accounts, so I can gather items either with the necromancer or my druid, or even my level 36 enchanter if necessary.

my secret is when i'm out hunting mammys, i offer to buy the meat from those out there hunting mammies for xp. i offer about 2-3 plat depending on how i feel. I tell them i'll buy from them in the future.

I've gotten several tells from folks telling me they have stacks of mammy meat, and am i still interested, which of course i am.

even if i pay about 3 plat for 1 meat, if i fillet it and sell the fillets back to a npc vendor, i break even (ok, so i lose a few silver). But i now have someone willing to farm them for me. SWEET. so i wait till i get that tell, go get my meat and start filleting.

I actuall got a mule that has over 3 full packs of mammy meat and 4 packs of wolf meat. I don't think i'll run out for awhile.
If your on the inny server send me a tell, i might sell ya some.
keep in mind 1 mammy/wolf meat filleted makes 10 fillets.

Are you hunting Mammoths in E.W ?

If not they are great xp for a level 40 Druid, I know as I hunt them with mine (with KEI). And I found the drop rate of meats not too bad either...

Erf - I had lousy luck with those beasts both in the barbarian's back yard and out in Velious - seemed like every time I tried to hunt them, every other wanna-be GM baker on the server was doing so as well with either a tracking alt two boxing or a buddy - didn't get a single mamoth hunter willing to sell to me.

Said to heck with it and went for the Misty Thickets - easier to get the raw materials, easier to store, better market for the final product and only 1/4th the total number of clicks.

Servers are so different, I never have any competition on mine (Tarrew Marr).

MTP's are a good idea, also consider Ohaba (or however you spell it) truffles. Requires Mushrooms, and you have a forager, plus mushrooms are normally on sale in bazaar most times for 1 to 5pp each.... that could jump you up to 201

I also did Orab Truffles to about 204 from 192. Took alot but i bought them about 1 p in the bazaar. Ive now done about 200 attempts at HMP's and got about 8 skill ups. Not bad and my guild loves free food since nothing sells in bazaar because of price cutters
