  • New Baker LFA (looking for advice)

 Hello everyone! I'm rather new to EQ & baking. My character is a level 16 wizard & money is so very hard to come by. No twinks, no alts, just me. I finally got my baking skill up to 153 and thought I'd try to make some Halas 10pd pies to sell on the bazaar. The first time I got all my supplies together (enough for 10 attempts) & I actually came out with 2 sucuesses )) I promptly sold these & got my level 16 spells I had been drooling over. I knew I was'nt ready to start MTP's so I thought I'd make some more pies. Spent all the plat I had left on supplies for 10 more attempts (why is fennel so high???) spent alot of time wandering around EC hunting those blasted lions, wandered into WC & promptly got whacked by that Kizdean fellow, then by that Dragoon while trying to get my corpse, lost my level, finally got it back.....enough of that! Settled in North FP by my favorite oven made all my combines then proceeded to fail on ALL my pie attempts...GGGggggrrrrr!!!! I'm so frustrated! What am I doing wrong? I did'nt even get a skill increase out of it. Can someone please give me some advice on how I can increase my skill on a low budget & maybye make something that could actually make me some money on the bazaar? My Int is ok I think (about 194 I think?) & I don't think I can afford that geerlock thing. I feel like I'm in a no end baking death loop!! Please help!

    Couple choices...

Make fish rolls and sell them for profit, this will net you about 12-20pp per stack profit, depending on patience and server.

Or you can make patty melts to 191 so that you don't fail nearly so often on Halas pies. For this you'll need to make an epic journey to JP, and learn enough smithing/pottery to make a non-stick frying pan.

That will cost you 20-30pp to get a non-stick frying pan, so you may have to do fish rolls first.

At 191 you should be well over 50% on HMP's.

Patty melts are, indeed, a good intermediate recipe, since the ingredients are all store-bought apart from the initial step of a fryin pan. They normally sell for 5gp-1pp each, so there's money to be made while you're working on skill.

Prior poster is right, as well; crossing Antonica at 16 will be a tough haul, but well worth the adventure.

Thank y'all so much for the excellant advice!!! I'm off to make some patty melts and fish rolls! Lucky for me my pottery is at 124 & I'm already working on smithing so maybye I can get a frying pan soon. Ahhh...I've been to Jaggedpine once...nearly had a bear eat me (I was afraid to fight it back for fear of never getting to go to JP again (alll those warnings about not fighting the bears) ...at least I have invisibility now! Hopefully I'll be knee deep in pies in no time!!!! 8)

Just a note for you - there are vendors who have lion meat as normal stock.

The only two meats for the HMPs that aren't normal stock are the mamoth and wolf meat. The wolf meat can be scored from just about any newby zone merchants although the mamoth meat can be a bit tougher to find.
